Yes, but was it the marijuana that led to those persons using the other drugs, or the other drugs that led to those persons using marijuana? And how many of those marijuana users used alcohol, nicotine, or caffeine FIRST?

As early as 1944...

New York Academy of Medicine issued an extensively researched report declaring that, contrary to earlier research and popular belief, use of marijuana did not induce violence, insanity or sex crimes, or lead to addiction or other drug use.

It wasn't my intent to go off on a tangent here, and we shouldn't. Anyone who's interested might look into the history of marijuana prohibition

If anyone cares to discuss it further, we should move it to another thread/forum.

Default A Lighter/Darker Side of Comestibles?

Hershey sues Colorado company over look-a-like marijuana edibles

From the Health News Headlines forum...
Quote:
Hershey Co has sued a Colorado maker of marijuana edibles, saying the packaging of its products is too similar to those made by the Pennsylvania-based chocolate and candy company. The trademark infringement lawsuit, filed this week in the U.S. District Court in Denver, says the Ganja Joy bars made by TinctureBelle LLC and TinctureBelle Marijuanka LLC too closely resemble Almond Joy produced by Hershey. It also says three other marijuana edibles - Hasheath, Hashees and Dabby Patty - are knock-offs of Hershey's Heath, Reese's peanut butter cups and York peppermint patty candies.

(From Yahoo)
It was bound to happen. I expect state & federal to be inundated for years to come with every kind of test case imaginable—some involving some extremely vivid (to say the least) imaginations....
Quote:
In addition to trademark infringement, the lawsuit said TinctureBelle's behavior "also creates a genuine safety risk with regard to consumers, including children, who may not distinguish between Hershey’s candy products and defendants’ cannabis" and might eat the marijuana edibles by mistake.
Ibid.
Hmmm.... Remember these?

Ha!!! We loved those candy cigs. The bubble gum ones were more fun. They were wrapped in paper and coated with sugar so to puff out sugar smoke. I wonder if they were made by the tobacco companies to hook us at a young age?

I remember them. Now they can't be on the counter. They are in the candy aisle. They were cool. We used to take twigs from tree branches and pretend we were smoking.

I loved them too! Maybe the candy cigs were my gateway drug to a nearly two decade cigarette addition...they didn't have the same effect on my siblings though.

Really amazing the **** they used to get away with. Who but a cigarette marketer could ever have thought these were a good idea? But I remember them well. Guess that's the point. (and I notice my use of common descriptive language has been censored, which I find interesting and not of the same caliber offense as trying to hook young kids on a product which is likely to negatively impact their health)

I find that humorous too (in a different way), but on the flipside, it compels me to be more creative/imaginative in my use of colorful alliteratives...

There are also times when I just use [various forms of the word] "cuss" as a universal descriptive/expletive.

They were just good candy. They certainly did not and do not taste like a real cigarette. I don't know anyone, friends, family, myself that led to smoking the real thing.
