I did not think my life could get any more depressing...dealing with a bad spine, and neuropathy and more. It seems in '04 the push was on to put in TVT slings.
I had minimal leakage and never gave it a thought that this was not a good idea when they did my hysterectomy. Some are telling me this sets up an autoimmune response in the body. In 06 PN started 2 yrs after the sling. I always have nerves buzzing and muscle spasms Could this be why? It is such a mess to even know what to do and who to trust 4 yrs ago I had problems and the dr never mentioned this was the sling. 4 yrs ago I could have found out what was put in me now it is too late as records are destroyed. This is just awful as taking part out can make things worse and taking all of it out the same and leaving it in could continue to damage my body. Dr that do this are not even in the area which makes any decision harder. You just can't hop in the car and get 2nd and 3rd opinions. Life is just too hard these days. |

Have you tried getting medical records from the hospital that the surgery was performed? I either go or call the hospital and request my records. Also, Have you seen an spinal orthopedic doctor? He would probably have you get an MRI which you and he could discuss. This is where I started when the lower spine issues were causing me concern. Gerry |

I got the dr records I can not believe they not the kind of sutures they use and retractors by name and did not write down the kind of TVT they used in me. This is so horrible to have this in you and know what can or might happen with this in me. The hospital does not require drs to not this. It is crazy that they can put something in your body and not even write down the details of what it is.

I developed PN after spine issues; but it did worsen after my Cystocele surgery (bladder); especially after using 500 mg's of Levaquin for 14 after the surgery. Levaquin is one of the top antibiotics on the list causing PN. I think this had more to do with the PN worsening than the mesh sling that was used for the surgery. Has any doctor suggested this may be the cause of the issues you are dealing with? Gerry |

Do you live in US? I'm a nurse and they have to put what they have used in their notes as far as I know. I don't know about the sutures and retractors but the type of TVT should be listed.
