Do your pancreatic enzymes elevate if your pancreas gets mad from PN? I have had elevated Lipase several times, and once elevated Amylase, but no one seems to think I have Pancreatitis... My C-Reactive protein stays up now most of the time.
Sometimes, the Lipase is up, sometimes not-there doesn't seem to be any pattern. Sometimes I have pain in the upper left side, just under my ribcage. My Gyn doc thinks that I am all inflammed inside... Also, does anyone know when Lipase is elevated, if that can affect the fatty coating on the nerves? I remember that it is an enzyme that acts on fats, I think, but could it act on the nerve coating and cause miserable burning pain? This probably a dumb question, but I really am having a LOT of pain right now and am trying to figure out what is going on here... Cathie |

It's been years since i was told lipase can cause elveted fatty coating
on the nerves. Sad part can't remember which Dr. told me this. Do you ever just fall asleep especially during the day,and can tell what is going on around you, then wake up very fast and confused,I know this sounds nuts, but you mentioned high protein levels.. Sue ![]() |

Wow cathie,
My C reactive protein is always high and I have had a terrible burning pain all over my body the month or two. My doc told me I was all inflamed inside as well. Interesting thing is I was taking a pancreatic enzyme called Creon and wondered if this was too much for me even though it was supposed to help with my food digestion. I stopped taking it and it got better. Just to be safe I am going to see a gastro tomorrow morning. |

Cathie,
I'm sorry you are suffering so. I found this site that may help you with knowing if the pain is caused from the pancreas. http://sg.answers.yahoo.com/question...6080628AAZYG2q And this one with some info about C-Reactive Protein http://sg.answers.yahoo.com/question...6080628AAZYG2q Wish I had more knowledge. Thanks all... I guess I need to consult my GI doc about this, although he knows I have PN and has never said anything about a connection between PN and the elevation...
Shelley: I hope you will post or PM after you see the Gastro guy... Sue: Did you mean elevated lipase causes a fatty coating on the nerves? The way I remember the myein coating is that this is the actual covering of the myelinated nerves. I would think lipase might affect or damage it, not the other way around. Do you remember? Do I fall asleep? Yes, right in the chair. And I stay confused most of the time... Tony: Thank you for posting that link. I will go through that and see what I can find. I don't have a gallbladder, so I know that is no problem, but I noticed there are other ruleouts for lipase elevation. |

advance....I simply wouldn't know an angry pancreas from anything else angry in my system? Somehow I have a feeling that I should be grateful.
I'm still learning I guess...Don't kow about you, but will we ever learn enuf to cure our own selves? Before it's too late? - sometimes it does seem that way doesn't it? I DO know my blood work and urine tests are all over the map - it's all the meds I take...X raises this count, Y lowers that count, and Z does funky things to both X & Y...It fair confuses this mortal brain.... Soft hugs and a gentle heating pad for you in the interim - ![]() |

It's been awhile but i would think you have pancreatisits i remember
the pain coming or burning from back to front just under the rib cage. And at times in front just under the rib cage. But it would better be discribed as burning or imflammed or hot. Sorry just woke up it hurts i know that. Honest it's been so long can't remember the answer to the other question but i will see if i can find anything. Did you say your husband is out of town?? Do you have a fever, even a kidney stone can be up that high, with infection around it. But sounds more like the other call Dr. Cathie don't wait to long. ![]() ![]() |
