Default Vitamin D

I have had the symptoms of alcoholic neuropathy for three months - severe pain in one foot and tingling in the other . Although my B 12 etc was ok, it turns out my Vitamin D is a bit low ( it is 48 mmol/L .... Think we may have a different scale here in the uk than in the US) . The specialist said I should go back to the GP and get a Vitamin D shot and gave it monitored... Will this make a difference to the neuropathy do you think ? Mrs D ?? ! Are you there ? :-)
