Well, return visit to gp for blood results only to find the ALT liver result is up again despite my stopping carbamazepine.
So over last 6 weeks it's gone from
61 to 117 to 141 down to 121 now up to 144 normal is below 30
earlier this year it was 19

Now I stopped the carbamazepine when it was at 141 and it was dropping ok, but has now gone up higher than ever 😧
She has advised me that I need to stop the cymbalta ASAP then more bloods to see if that makes a difference.
Then the gabapentin too if it's not coming down.
Has anyone else had issues like this.
Curious also as to the role of gluten as it is implemented in both neuropathy and liver issues.

I hope she gave you taper instructions for the Cymbalta, as stopping abruptly can cause significant withdrawal syndrome.

I am on 30mg a day she said go every other day to start coming off it

We'll no withdrawl symptoms from stopping the cymbalta, I didn't expect any to be honest, I never seem to have that problem stopping medications. Just the gabapentin to get off now, down too only 600mg a day now so should be off it by next week. As you can imagine the pain is not great 😩

Gabapentin is not metabolized in the body (only a tiny bit is suggested sometimes), so it should not affect the liver at all, or the metabolism of other drugs. It is excreted by the kidneys whole, and poor kidney functions are what to look for with safe use of this drug. People with low kidney clearance cannot take high doses of gabapentin, therefore.

I know as I have PKD so my max dose I am allowed of GABA is 1800mg a day, my gp is just being cautious as my liver count is still going up despite dropping the other drugs. Maybe it just wanted to join the party 😳
