Default Drugs causing constipation

For those who do suffer from constipation because of meds for PN, try this simple method, this an old trick that been used for decades but i am amazed that not many know about it..

Just boil some water up and fill your mug up with the hot water, just sip it like you would if you having coffee or tea, it may work in a couple of hours or sometimes it takes over night to do its trick, but i have seen this work time after time when all else failed [with meds i mean].

When i was in hospital there was an old guy in the same room as me, he hadn't been for 4 days and was feeling very ill over it, he said they were given him all sorts of meds but nothing worked, so that night i told him about this method and he had a hot cup of water just about straight away, still nothing happened first thing in the morning so i said try another, which he did and about a half hour later it worked.

Default Lucky man

You know your right it's so simply, that's probably why it works, and
he was lucky to have you as roommate.lol Hopes this helps others.
My youngest son got the same help, but was told not to drink hot
tea just use the lemon they gave him and put it in hot water,it cut down
on his Migrane's.. So simply but has helped him for years. Sue

Default It works

This was one of the things they told me at Mayo too. You can use any hot drink. Just have it first thing in the morning and then eat something with fiber. I use oatmeal. It took awhile to get things going after the trip, but this simple trick plus one serving of Miralax worked for me and has ever since. If I skip the hot drink even tho I've had the Miralax the night before, you can forget it. The hot drink stimulates the vagus nerve http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vagus_nerve and for most people this works.

I'm not any meds right now, but over the years, sometimes some kind of med, for example, tylenol with codeine, well forget about going to the bathroom.

And when Alan was on the fentanyl pain patch and took vicodin for breakthrough pain, he went once a week. That's right, once a week.

My friend's husband started to make a compote out of fresh boiled fruit. She was drinking it every day (not for any particular reason, but he gave it to her and she drank it).

So one day, she's telling me "what's wrong with me, I can't stop going to the bathroom, why is this happening"?? So I quizzed her on what she was eating and drinking and there was nothing to make her go like she was going, until she said the following "Oh Marty makes this compote of boiled fruit and he boils it down, it's some European Recipe and it's really good". I asked her how much she was drinking and she said "oh a couple of cups a day". I burst out laughing and said "now you know why you are going to the bathroom like you are going".

Well, after she hit him over the head, I could hear her yelling: "do not come near me with that stuff any more".

So if anybody wants to go (without taking Miralax) just give this a try. Try boiling up some fruit and drink the juice.

Also, (and this was from my mother). Boil escarole and drink the water.

That'll make you go big time!!!

Constipation is my middle name. In the hospital they couldn't even believe how long I could not go. This was common though in the eating disorder recovery. They gave us tennis balls to rub on our stomach. Regardless plenty of water because if not its even worse. I thought some of what works in the coffee is caffeine?
