Anyone on Medicare had appointments at the Mayo Clinic? I have an appointment in February at the Jacksonville FL Clinic and they said they don't take Medicare or at least the fee scale but will file a claim and I would be responsible for the remainder......that could be a huge bill.
Thanks |

I would call Tricare first before you go to Mayo....
Government insurance is not so spiffy and it might not cover it.

Tricare for Life is different than regular Tricare. They will pick up 100% of anything Medicare covers but doesn't pay (ALL the 20% left over).
You just need to make sure "regular" Medicare is accepted at Mayo. They used to accept Medicare (just not those Medicare HMO plans)...but I don't know what they do now. But I have Tricare for Life and NEVER have a co-pay for anything as long as it is a Medicare covered service. Call Tricare as well just to make sure you are not limited where you can go. I travel to Hopkins and Medicare and Tricare for Life covers EVERY penny. |

Here is the skinny from Mayo:
http://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-vi...q/medicare-faq Be advised that many of our PNers were not really impressed with Mayo. They just run all the tests again and tell you that you have neuropathy and that is it. They then release you back to your doctor. On MS forum a poster here had a HORRIBLE MAYO experience: example: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...highlight=Mayo The experience can be not what you expected at all.
