Default IF I were in your situation....

and since the neuropathy is spreading, I would seek a second opinion with a neurologist. Many GP's are quite capable of treating slow, diabetic neuropathies, but, BUT, IF you are keeping your #'s under control...worth a check out to see if something else is going on...A co-pay and subsequent tests are far cheaper than a full-blown sub-acute onset such as I had resulting in a nightmarish two day stay in the hospital with only pain-killers that really did NOTHING.

Ask your GP for recommendations, or ask other docs you know/use. It was my other docs' recommendations that steered me to the right neuro after the one 'on call' turned out to be a dud.

Be clearly aware tho, that unless your GP [it's tricky here tho-egowise] recommends a specialist and gives him a call to 'take a look' -the norm is about a one-month wait for new patients. If your GP gets huffy, things can get sticky...but if you put it out that you just are worried about the spreading and because of that scariness [and, it IS DEFINITELY SCARY!] you'd just like a 'second opinion'. That way, you get the best of all worlds - I TRULY HOPE!...

Tomorrow morning, promise that you will call? - j

Oh, the feeling as if you are both frost-bitten and sun-burned at the same time, not to mention french-fried? Know them well.

Default Joe - too true!

The tourniquet done too tightly?

Not to mention the 'fingernails' suddenly becoming two sizes too small? - j
