Hi,
I am having bad sciatica and they wanted to inject me in the back. I was too scared to do that since I blame multiple epidurals during labor for messing up my back initially. Anyways I was given Predisolone 25 mg for 3 days. Have not started it yet. I am a bit anxious about it. I wanted to know if it is contraindicated in neuropathy as it states neuropathy as one of the side-effects? Also does anyone know if it causes anxiety? I have that too. :0( Thank you in advance. Hi Aussie 99
Don't want to cause you more anxiety but there is some discussion on the following thread of reaction to methylprednisolone (IV) - I'm not sure if this is exactly the same as they want to give you but hopefully it will help with your search for answers. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread216820.html |

I took 10mg a day of prednisolone last summer when my back went out. I had no problems with it or the taper off. In fact I felt really good afterwards! That wonderful relief lasted about a month before my old pain returned but a bit lesser. I had a pain event in my mid torso under my shoulder blade...I couldn't raise my arms, drive my car, or
do much of anything for 2 weeks. The pred did not flare my PN either. But everyone is different. If steroids weren't so bad for my blood sugar and have long term risks for bones, I'd take them more often.

Steroids are yet another drug I know nothing about with the exception that I had to give them to my son a lot for Croup when he was younger. I have had unremitting sciatica since Valentine's Day and was contemplating buying a cane yesterday because I cannot bear weight on leg. It's nice to know they can fix you up in an emergency situation because the Epidurals scare me to death. Thank you xx |

Thank you for thread. They were given an infusion of 1000 mg for Ms symptoms. That's sounds like a high dose. I have an oral dose of 25 mg for 2-3 days. But obviously side effects are unpredictable. I'm hoping for a good outcome because I am hardly able to walk and cannot sit in a chair. I'm feeling really stressed being in this state. Willing to take the chance. Thank you very much. Xx |
