Hello
Since having Acupuncture treatments I have been in even more pain. Needles went in on either side of my spinal cord (not in it or touching it). I have had severe burning all along back and neck that is starting to rap around into my abdomen. Where are your nerve roots? Mught they have been damaged? It's been 3 minths and it's only getting worse not better. Go Since I haven't had improvement does that mean I won't heal? Also, have burning pounding pain near ankles ( another needle rhere). Would u expect that to be healed in 3 minths? |

Acupuncture didn't help me either but it does seem to help some with NP.
I always thought healing would take 1–4 years but when I recently saw my doctor, I was surprised to hear "you've had this for two years now so your nerves probably will not regenerate". I thought 'this is as good as it's going to get?' ![]() |

I guess I was not completely surprised to hear it but there was a part of me that prior to that thought 'okay, two years down, two more to go and I will be healed'.
It was not what I wanted to hear but I would much rather have the truth than continue to hold onto unrealistic expectations. |

maybe two years if you are in the process of regenerating nerves. but if the underlying cause isnt found and treated, or in many cases even if it is treated, the nerves will continue to deteriorate. this is why it is important in my opinion to get tested thoroughly and quickly. you have a small window of opportunity to recover substantially in most cases. after that the damage may have progressed past the point of being able to recover. that is not to say you cant reach a state of equilibrium as well where you wont recover completely but may recover partially or not progress further.

My experience was testing, testing, testing...and then "sorry, we do not know." And that was it. No further testing necessary. I was told it might improve, it could get better or it could get worse and there was no indication which direction it would go. It was the oddest experience of my life. Could they really know so little about a disease, how to treat it and its prognosis? The answer is yes and it's called peripheral neuropathy.
Ironically, even spell check on my computer flags the word "neuropathy". ![]() |
