Default A big thank you...

So, my symptoms keep getting worse at this point.

I am at a pain clinic, but it is very back pain focused.

My blood work shows extremely low platelets, neutrophils and low white blood cells.

I have been seeing a hematologist/oncologist now for over six months. He is one of the few physicians that I have seen since this roller coaster began that is empathetic and professional.

He thinks the neuropathy could be secondary, but can't find a reason for the low blood work. I was taken off Lyrica to see and my neuropathy is much worse.

I just wanted you all to know that I am SO thankful for this board.

Over and over the veterans and the newbies have really made a difference in my life.

I really appreciate your wise advice and suggestions.

I hear & feel your pain all too well. I've been saying since my adventure in nueropathy started that the more my back hurts the more my feel hurt. After 4 years of Epidurals, SI joint injections, Nuerotin to Gralise to Cymbalta back to Gralise then to Lyrica a mylegram shows or confirms DDD in L3,4 & 5.

I'm in the midst of going off of Lyrica back to Gralise and I can say it hurts like hell. I never gave Lyrica enough credit for pain relief, but I also need to get rid of the 12+ lbs I gained on it so its back to Gralise sometime next week. I've made it to day one of no Lyrica OUCH, Sunday I should be able to start slowly back on Gralise.

June 2nd I'm scheduled for Lumbar Surgery that I'm hoping provides me with relief from the back pain.

Good Luck hope they find an answer that leads to your relief.

Just a question... if gralise worked for (already on it twice and now going back) why did you go off? (just trying to find out what my next option should be). I am not worried about weight gain as I have lost 35 pounds since this started and am sitting at 110lbs (which is fine for my height of 5'3, but I am not worried about gaining 20lbs if something works well)

Baba222,
There are ignorant Doctors, there are arrogant ones, there are good ones - then there are Oncologists and their Staff from my experiences. I am SO glad you have found this as well.
Wishing you a speedy and complete resolution to your issues, and echoing your gratitude for this whole Forum and all the wonderful Members.

Dave.

It wasn't my idea, the pain Dr's they thought the other drugs could work better for me. Cymbalta & I did not get along at all, I've always been laid back and while on it I would start to get angry over little things so we stopped that. After 3 days of no Lyrica or Nuerotin(Gralise) I can honestly say the Lyrica was doing way more than I ever gave it credit for.

Good luck I hope they find something to provide you with some level of relief.

I'm curious how low your white count is and platelets? Are these values low because of a med you are on? Or ?
