I have the red and green ones. I used to use them alot. But I don't like using tape.

I now have quilted knitting needle holders with 3 very strong 1 inch neodymium mags in them in a row. I sewed them in myself. This is tricky since they tend to knot up..so I put a nylon stiffener in with with them. I bought the knitting needle covers at a clearance store (they are folded in half too so are only 7 in long). These I lay over various nerve paths to intercept pain. They are so strong I only need them 20 minutes or less in a problem area.
The polarity is also confusing...I find some days I need one polarity and others the opposite works better.

If you search PN for "magnets" you'll find my posts. I don't often give advice on them, because the user has to be careful with them, and be trustworthy to keep them safe, away from pets and children who might swallow them.

I had a boulder roll onto my foot years ago when we were fixing a rock wall, and it crushed my big toe. My little magnets then, were very helpful for controlling the pain. My podiatrist was impressed, as he sometimes recommends them too.

This is the green/red ones:

The price has sure gone up. I got 8 for about $9.00 years ago!

This is the size I sewed up into my pads:

I've been using magnets carefully for over a decade!

Thanks I just read some reviews on how STRONG these are and how some used for OA and other pain issues. I'd like to try the Applied Mag on my knee but not sure how to use them....just placing them on knee etc. Many reports on people buying them to hold shower curtains....not my issue. Pain control would be what I would look at. Thanks again.

Just reading more, could be I should not use these since I have metal in my thigh with hip replacement.

To use magnets effectively you need to study anatomical drawings of the nerve paths, around the areas you need to
reduce pain. You don't just apply them "anywhere".
They are similar in this regard to successful use of Lidoderm patches.

So for this reason I don't recommend them commonly. This is because there is a responsibility to use magnets correctly and safely. Homework is required.

The internet does provide many diagrams to help. But it has been my experience that most people DON'T read the links I provide and that others provide here. They want a quick fix...and they do not want to take responsibility on themselves to learn and apply knowledge. Many people have a poor understanding of biological systems, on how our organs work, how the the blood flows around, and where the nerves actually are.

Magnets do help with increasing circulation in some areas. But basically I believe they block pain signals for the most part.

Lidoderms which work in a similar fashion are still not understood by doctors and nurses. So expecting the lay public to understand how they work and where to place them is an even larger problem. Magnets are similar.

Some chiros may understand this, some PTs, some trainers, but for the most part, this knowledge is not available to most.

There are restrictions for magnets... no electrical implants is one. Things with valves or electrical leads.

This is what one link says about metal joint replacements:

Thanks for your patience and explanations. Here is the product another friend is "selling" me on as I have pain but I'm not dying and manage but, of course, I'd love less less pain. Guess I can't understand if one tapes the mags on, walk places, etc...guess I need to ask more questions, I'm trying to take advantage of the 25% discount but I may have to pass right now. I don't want to be impulsive. We have a medical supply store here that is kinda alternative leaning, so I'll call them tomorrow and see if they have mags...they sell tens units, copper products....

If that doesn't work for some reason the code is May2015 for
25% off.

I have not seen those offers myself...that must be a rather new site. The fellow I used to buy from in the mid 90's died and his site went with him.

Some things about magnets:

1) they do not really cure anything.

2) if you use the rare earth neodymium ones that are very strong, I don't believe you need to wear them all day or even for long periods.

I discovered that they unload a busy nerve quickly. When I started with the dime sized neodymium ones that first were targeting sports injuries, I taped them on my knee. I found that sometimes they "overloaded" me and I became dizzy. So I only used them at night. The new large ones especially will penetrate 6-8 in.

I believe now that they sort of "earth" you... wipe out static or stuck nerves that fire when there is no pain at the moment.

3) remember... pain is a signal the body sends when something is wrong. Don't wipe it away completely. Always respect that you are not 100% and don't be fooled into activities that strain the place causing pain. Magnets can lull you into a false sense of well being and you can injure yourself worse because of that.

The inventer of the Magnabloc was a doctor at Vanderbilt University. I saw a story about him on a news show, Dateline I think. It was in the 90's. His Magnablocs were 4 dime sized neos with mixed polarities sealed in a square of plastic...

http://www.magnabloc.com/
The logo on this site shows it in a schematic.
He did alot of research on it. This particular product was very expensive ---very. So I made my own. His articles might still be on the internet if you care to search for them.
http://www.prnewswire.com/news-relea...-73649972.html

4) if you use a neo that is not in plastic, and you put the metal against your skin, you may get a "nickel" rash or what my podiatrist called a "magnet burn". So I eventually made my own pads. Foot insoles never worked for me. I always placed my mags along a nerve path...so I used them for my feet by placing on the ankle. I did use a tiny one on my broken toe...right over the 2 fractures...that helped the bones in that case heal faster.

5) You can look up acupressure points on the net. One book I have suggested magnets in the palms of the hand, to lower blood pressure. There is a pressure point about 4 inches up the forearm, that responds to my magnets when my hands are stiff..or hurt alot (carpal tunnel). There is also the meniscal pressure point on the lateral side of the knee (right where it bends) that my orthopedic doctor showed me when my knee was so terrible. Both those work well for me. So search for your specific pressure points, online, and try those.

6) I have found that polarity may change for some of my pain. If one pole fails to work, or induces buzzing/vibrating sensations, flip the magnet over. I don't think the body retains pain in only one polarity therefore. So you have to be flexible about this. You will know within minutes if you have the correct polarity that day, for the painful issue. The wrong polarity will enhance the pain...and also verify you are in the correct location for a magnet session.

Hi again, I just don't feel like getting into little magnets, placement, taping etc. So last night I recalled that years ago I wore a magnet knee sleeve and don't remember how it helped but my knee was no where as narley as it today.

So I looked online found magnetjewelrystore.com

and ordered a magnetic knee sleeve and anklet for my OA foot/ankle.

Not a big investment, but will try them and see what I feel.

I know they do not cure, what does? d e a t h -- not ready yet.
And I don't see replacements as the answer, hip wasn't great for me.

What I'd really like to do is PRP injections but at $850 a session, it's hard for me to come up with the money and deplete my old age savings account faster. Knowing my genes, I could be around into my 90's....yikes.

I saw a knee brace on that link.... it uses FERRITE magnets which are really quite weak. I think a waste of money therefore.

Don't buy anything with less than neodymium rare earth magnets in the device.

My homemade pads cost me about $6 each plus the sewing which drove my carpal tunnel crazy!

You can see that the neos cost much more when in a brace.
http://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Brace.../dp/B00111B0LA

I don't see how what you bought will do much. But then, this does illustrate why I don't talk about this subject here very often. People just don't understand the process and the science. sigh.

Good luck.

Well, I'll see I guess, small investment and if I get some relief, I'm happier.
