I am trying to post a picture of a rash that keeps happening when I go in the sun for 10 minutes. Don't know if it will come through.
If you can see it and anyone has any knowledge of it that would help diagnosis that would be great. It only happens in the sun. It started about 2 weeks ago.It goes away in 1/2 hour. If I have my legs in the pool, even when the sun is blaring- it doesn't happen. It looks like levido reticularus. What ever it is- It is definitely vascular. The rheumatologist told me to go to the dermatologist about it (of course... ![]() IMG_4120.jpg |

That does look like livedo, which usually comes up when cold or nervous. Are you on any meds that cause photosensitivity? Does it matter if it is hot/warm sun or just sun period? Does position of the legs matter?
My CRPS foot gets all red mottled in sun, though I think it is a response to local warming. |

Have not seen that on myself, but I have another heat-related vascular condition that affects my legs.
Did you see the wiki page with the list of causes? Yowza. Lots. https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=Livedo_reticularis I hope someone can eventually put the pieces together for you. |

There is another possibility...
Not common, but often overlooked: REM reticular erythematous mucinosis Its appearance is different for each person. But it is activated by UV. With time it may become more or less permanent. (and it can be treated with Plaquenil)...It is considered a variant of lupus.

At the onset of my symptoms last year, I was getting something very similar to this. I would sit outside in the sun for maybe less than 20 minutes and a rash would break out on both of my arms. I tried sitting in the sun 4 days in a row with the same result. Once I went inside, it took about 45 minutes to 1 hour for the rash to fade away. I've stayed out of direct sunlight ever since. I never got a diagnosis because at that point in time my HMO doctor thought I was a lunatic with all my crazy symptoms. My co-workers did get to see my arms and were pretty much floored at how disgusting it was. I will try to dig up a picture this weekend when I have a little more time and I'll post it on this thread. |

Does the sun hurt you? When I'm out in the sun I feel ok (sometimes increased burning) but when I come in I definitely have increased burning. Do you have this too? Sorry, burning has been really bad the last few days. legs and face inparticular, they won't stop they are on fire 24/7 right now. Normally, the burning comes for a bit in my face then stops then starts etc. ( but this happens all over my body).

![]() And when I say hurts, it's like acid or base being left on my skin that I'm not allowed to wash off. |

I was miserable. I had near non-stop tingles/rushes and couldn't into my hot car fast enough. |
