Thanks everyone - your answers help confirm my guess that PN could be seasonally affected. The variety and range of changes that you all experience due to weather is enlightening. Still learning something new about this aggravating condition every day.

I agree barometric pressure (and humidity) can definitely affect how the body performs - influencing BP and water volumes. I would also guess that maybe in stormy conditions there is extra electrical charge in the air which could have an 'excitability' effect on nerves?

KnowNothingJon - I experienced Florida weather before I had PN - even then the heat & humidity was difficult to deal with - can't imagine trying to cope with PN in that climate. Kudos to you for sticking it out.

I guess this means I need to get my A into G and get stuff done while I can manage before summer arrives.

My brothers, sister, our progeny and my parents planned to go. I almost pulled myself out a few times, though the thought of letting people down and the extra strain that would leave on my wife, I came.

It has been rough, interesting, arduous, but I have found my smiles. I am working on an essay of sorts on my experience, as I used a wheelchair to get around after the first day was decimated by my walking for three hours...

Fascinating stuff, people's behavior.

Winter was easier for me. I got less electric shocks as I was wearing boots and gloves to buffer electricity.

Cool Smirk

Neuropathy, Hypersensitivity, Cluster Headaches all worse in hot weather.

TN and Neuropathic Facial Pain infinitely worse in cold.

Somebody put me in cryogenic stasis until my mind can be downloaded into a robot body

Dave.

Idiopathic PN here. I have long found it to be odd that I have less pain in the wintertime, but it then increases into the spring and summer. Northern hemisphere here, so I've wondered if it had to do with increasing light (I noticed the glimmerings of it starting up as early as January, a month after the equinox), or whatever allergens become active, or just the ambient temperature. Probably the latter, since my symptoms are largely around burning pain and increase on hotter days.

Hi. I have similar reactions to the heat of summer and am dreading the coming season. Winter is difficult too but summer is the one that I get really anxious about. I have central sensitisation disorder which basically means I have severe neuropathic pain over most of my body. My hands and feet in the heat of Summer swell up and are luminous red. Very painful. Let's hope for a modest Summer bluesfan ( :

Thanks indigo - I too am dreading the oncoming summer - specially the rumors of an expected long drought ie: hot sunny days and sweltering nights.

My feet have already started burning again but if they get really bad I might try making some Epsom Salt Lotion - seeing as we can't get the Morton's over here.

Are you able to take cool showers to reduce the burning pain or does the water on your skin just add to it? I remember last summer was horrible - I'd take a cool shower and for several hours after it was like walking through a cactus patch.

Maybe I should opt for English Dave's suggestion and be cryogenically frozen until next winter.

Take care - stay cool.
