Default ?? about Alan's psoriasis.

My god, I have never seen such an outbreak as he has right now!

Is it because he just had an infusion and the antibodies are going nuts!!! I'm not simplifying this, believe me. He's had psoriasis for years and years.

He went to various dermatologists and they tried the various cremes. The only creme that worked (at least for a while it worked) was clobetazole. That's what we are using now.

I tried vitamin A and D ointment. That worked for a while too. Cleared up the stuff on his ear. He has always had a 5 inch patch on his right leg (from just above his ankle going up. Nasty looking thing. Then bit more patches would flare up. Then his elbows. The elbows would clear up now and then.

But jeez. He just came home from his night time job as a security guard and as I was massaging him (before he goes to sleep ), I looked at his legs and elbows and said "holy *****". I immediately got out the clobetazole (because he is not very good at remembering to do this). He said "oh give up already, it's all from stress". I said 'yeah, but you really have to do something about this, it's gettin worse". The leg patches are all flaming red (once I do the a & d ointment, they quiet down), but isn't there anything that you guys know that he can try???

I was just on a psoriasis forum and these people have found success with Tumeric Capsules. It's a spice, I know that, but these people swear by this.
Then I read messages by other people and it didn't do a darn thing for them.

I have been told that Psoriais is an autoimmune disorder (and we know that because Alan had protein in his spinal fluid), that he has some form of autoimmune thing going on in his body), Could it be that since he just had two infusions, that this can be a flare up???

Tomorrow is his 60th birthday, and I'm going to get him some oatmeal soap or something that will sooth his skin. I'll wrap it up and we'll meet at Dunkin Donuts for our Sunday morning breakfast date and I'll whip out the little birthday bag and go "Surprise".

So has anyone ever found THE ONE THING, other than prescription cremes, that has helped your psoriasis? I'll buy it and put it in the bag.

Thanks

Melody

Of course these things always happen on a weekend. Have you called the pharmacy and see if they can recommend anything? Sorry I'm not much help but hope he has a Happy Birthday.

Thank you Daniella:

I just came back from the Pharmacy. I asked the pharmacist if he could recommend something for Alan. He knows the both of us for 15 years.

He said "get the Aveeno Body Wash, the unscented one, it's very gentle and he can use it instead of soap, in the shower. Sounded good to me, because Alan has been using this PURE soap, from the .99 cent store and I have no idea what the heck is in this stuff.

So I just made a little birthday bag, with all ribbons and stuff and a card. Tomorrow when we meet up at 9 a.m. in Dunkin Donuts, well, he has no idea. It will be very funny. My god, he's 60. I'll hit the big 60 in November.

Where do the years go???? I still think I'm 32 and hot. Like I was when I met him.

how funny is that??

Melody I hope you have a nice day today and your husband can enjoy himself. I love DD my mom and I meet there sometimes. Anyhow that made me smile about still feeling like when you met. That is wonderful.

Default Melody,

Tell Alan to have a Happy Birthday! from Billye

And I hope you have a nice day too. I use the Aveeno body wash. It works wonders on dry itchy skin. Hope it helps Alan.

Thank you all.

Well, I was waiting at the bus stop (across from DD), and he said he'd be home by around 9:20 a.m. So I'm there and across the street (right in front of DD), a bus comes along and I said to myself 'better look there, because he might have decided to take another way home". and sure enough, there he was. You should have seen me going "yoo hoo, with my little birthday bag and he's laughing. So I go up to him (and I'm wearing this ridiculous low-cut top (now aren't I dumb, I won't wear dangling earrings any more because I hit the big 60 soon), but I will wear an extremely sexy black top, white skirt and white sandals. Well, his eyes pop out and he goes "boy do you look sexy this morning". I laughed my head off because if a 59 year old woman can make her husband of 27 years come out with a remark like that, then I must be doing something right. LOL

We had our dunkin donuts breakfast and now he's fast asleep.

Tonight, I'll take him for his birthday dinner right around the corner, a nice Japanese restaurant. They make a grilled salmon to die for.

So now we are 60 years old this year. Wow, time certainly does go by, doesn't it??

I shall give him your warmest wishes.

Take care all!!!

Melody

Heart Happy birthday to Alan

Hi Mel and Alan:

You two may be enjoying that special birthday supper of salmon right now. It is 5:48 PM here in Minnesota and you are an hour ahead of us. Happy Birthday again Alan.
