Default New here anyone here have SFN that has large fibers involved?

I've had SFN now for almost 3 years (diagnosed through nerve biopsy) but now dealing with major generalized weakness. I've been getting IVIg every 4 weeks or so. My last EMG was abnormal where in January it was normal. I'm currently in a Subscute rehab center in hopes in can get strong enough to go home, however my neuropathy and weakness gets worse with activity. I'm being referred to Hopkins. I've got foot drop and denervation in my calf muscle ( think the muscle starts with a z) I've also got short waves (not sure exactly what it means other than myopathy I believe ) in lower body EMG I one muscle of which I can't think of the name of. Anyway just hoping there might be others with some insight or at least hope.

Thanks!
Pam

I had foot drop and now its gone. I had muscle wasting and now they are not. I would encourage you to use those muscles that are getting worse with activity. My Chiro explained it as making the nerves call on the muscles even if the muscles do not respond 100%. We call it exercize to tolerance. Set yourself some benchmarks so you will be able to tell progress from stalemate.I have to lift my legs into a pickup. That has not changed, but all other symptoms, weaknesses, pains, using a walker, everything is now different than it was. Do not know if this gives hope but it is truth as I know it good or bad. Good Luck, Ken in Texas.
