Default Cheaper Epsom Salt/Magnesium Oil

Just an FYI- There is a mixture of Epsom salt and Magnesium sold at tack and harness shops for horses. If you are unfamiliar with the horse world, ask someone so you don't get ripped off. Can also order online. We get Epsom Poultice. It's a green jelly. We use it on the horse's legs. Now mine too.

Be careful you don't use too much. Horses are big and
Can tolerate more magnesium than humans can.

True story! Thank you. I would have been heavy handed out of desperation too.

The wrapping will drive more into the horse.

100 g would therefore have 60 gm and with the magnesium elemental factor would be about 30gm +/- 10 gm.
100gm of this is about 4 ounces.

The gel base would facilitate absorption too. So this is very concentrated.

Compare to Kirkman cream which is 100mg, / scoop.

Product Description

Available in 20 ounce jar and 10 pound size.

Kaeco Epsom Salt Poultice is a topical gel designed for external applications. It is effective for drawing abscesses, helps reduce swelling and soothes pain caused from bruises, sprains and strains. “A great choice for insect bites and drawing abscess collections from the feet. We’d keep a jar around just for that…” (Horse Journal – August 2004)
For years, horse owners have understood the benefits of soaking horses legs and hooves in epsom salts. Epsom salts are an effective treatment for drawing abscesses, reducing swelling and soothing sore muscles or joints. This soothing and effective therapy is now available with Kaeco’s Epsom Salt Poultice. This topical gel is highly recommended for drawing abscess collection from feet.

Because of that it can sting or burn skin that has cuts or abrasions or is just dry and cracking.

This is highly concentrated therefore. So be careful with it.
You could even dilute it with another lotion or gel.

I'd start with a very small amount, and use it on one leg/foot, for 3 days, and if that works, and you don't have side effects, go with that.

If you have any kidney disease, ask your doctor before using.

Animals often have very different metabolic systems...so while they may use something similar to us, they may require much more or much less of a nutrient than we do. Horses can be over 10 x as heavy as a normal human and require more magnesium than we could tolerate.

Default buy in bulk bags used for flotation tanks

I found a cheap way was to buy a huge bag of epsom salts that was intended for commercial flotation tanks (the type spas would use for new-age spa treatments where customers quietly float in a sensory deprived flotation tank). Searched around on the internet and was able to have a bulk bag delivered to my home.

Worked out great. Saved lots of money. Bought a big bag and just use it for my baths occasionally. I don't keep the big bag in the bathroom but a place in the house with dry air. It doesn't keep as long in humid rooms. Sometimes in the bath I mix it with plain bath salt (no perfumey stuff) to help with joints. I also hear it's nice to mix with oil, baby oil, etc. if sky dry.

It's good to brush your (dead skin off) skin all over your body beforehand (in the direction of your heart to stimulate circulation), stay in only 20, on the outside possibly 40 minutes, not too hot (aggravating nerves), then shower any residue off. I like putting on my podcasts / spiritual music in my ear phones and going into a healing zen state and talk nicely with my healing body.

I found it hard to find pure, unadulterated epsom salts and also plain bath salts. Everyone wants to mix in some special blend of cosmetic stuff and then charge a fortune for a small packet which adds up if you are using it regularly.

Default Kirkman's lotion great

BTW - I have also had great success with Kirkman's Epsom Salt lotion.

Quarter size dollop on each foot before bed a couple of times a week.

Seems to quiet down / recover nerves if I was on my feet too much that day and need to get happier feet back or seems to help if I have had a spate of feet muscle cramps.
