Oh my gosh folks ! Took my first 5 mg Melatonin last night and it's the worst drunk I've EVER had. Stumbled around like a drunk, felt drunk, went to bed and thought I was going to throw up because my head was spinning.
Did I start at too high a dose ? I don't think I'll be trying this again. Just wanted to share and see if maybe I took too much or had a reaction to it or something....weird ![]() Debi from Georgia |

I had a very hyper reaction every time I tried melatonin.. it was more like caffeine for me...
I gave the rest of the bottle to a friend cause it was not working at all to help me sleep.

3 mg is my dosage, and it takes a good while for me to feel any effects...which are mild. But it affects everyone differently.
Give me Benadryl, though, and I'm walking into walls. ![]() |

I did sleep all night but felt groggy all day yesterday.
I can tell from your messages that I absolutely took TOO much ! I should have read up on it more before taking it. All I saw on the shelf was the 5 mg and I just thought, stupidly, that it was the dosage everyone took. I probably would have felt better if I had thrown the stuff up ![]() That sure was a learning experience ! Debi from Georgia |

Debi, If you have a 5mg tablet, cut it up in fours or more and go from there. Consider the sleep remedy I take now for quite a few years. I'm so thankful for my good sleep.

Could be a lot of factors: age, bodyweight, meds one takes etc etc. Maybe try working with Calms Forte' only. I know when I started with it years ago, I talked to Hylands about it and they said it's their #1 selling product. Probably 15 yrs ago or more I had bought some melatonin and I don't remember if it was 3mg or 1mg but I remember how groggy I was and never took it again for a lot of years until this low dose came to me via Dr. Eric Braverman of LifeExtension.

I had a very similar experience with Melatonin. So at present I take 3 1000mg of glycine. It sure puts me in a very relaxed mood before retiring for the night.

My dose is 1/2mg Melatonin and Inositol and Gaba which are in my sleep combo whch is posted here in a couple places. I sleep good, 8+ hrs with one wake up at 3AM or so for bathroom. I buy 1mg source naturals tablets and break in half. I have some glycine headed my way and will be taking some as I also hear it's helpful for arthritis.
BTW: I start my melatonin etc at 7:30PM which starts preparing body for sleep at 11PM or a little earlier. |
