Default Melatonin whipped my u know what !

Oh my gosh folks ! Took my first 5 mg Melatonin last night and it's the worst drunk I've EVER had. Stumbled around like a drunk, felt drunk, went to bed and thought I was going to throw up because my head was spinning.

Did I start at too high a dose ?

I don't think I'll be trying this again.

Just wanted to share and see if maybe I took too much or had a reaction to it or something....weird

I had a very hyper reaction every time I tried melatonin.. it was more like caffeine for me...
I gave the rest of the bottle to a friend cause it was not working at all to help me sleep.

Did you at least sleep good? I've never take more than 3mg, which is the size my Melatonin capsules come in.

3 mg is my dosage, and it takes a good while for me to feel any effects...which are mild. But it affects everyone differently.

Give me Benadryl, though, and I'm walking into walls.

I had a very similar experience with Melatonin. So at present I take 3 1000mg of glycine. It sure puts me in a very relaxed mood before retiring for the night.

My dose is 1/2mg Melatonin and Inositol and Gaba which are in my sleep combo whch is posted here in a couple places. I sleep good, 8+ hrs with one wake up at 3AM or so for bathroom. I buy 1mg source naturals tablets and break in half. I have some glycine headed my way and will be taking some as I also hear it's helpful for arthritis.

BTW: I start my melatonin etc at 7:30PM which starts preparing body for sleep at 11PM or a little earlier.

Debi, it sounds as if it caused a bout of vertigo.

1.5 -2mg. I would not recommend for my clients to ever take it at a higher dose. So 5 mg is double or more than you would need.

Oh yeah.....5mg is on the high end. We take only 1 mg along with GABA. You can get the 1mg sublingual and start with just half a tablet to see how you do and then up it to a full tablet.

If John takes the melatonin and glycine before bedtime, he's too tired in the morning. That combo really knocked him out.

I agree with the others... 5mg is very high to start with.

Try breaking in half, and see if you get the same response.

This may be additive to the other medications you take.

Here is a good drug checker...you can plug your drugs in one at a time, with the melatonin and see if there are recorded interactions.
