Default New frustrating pain to deal with... in shoulder

Ok friends - I have been suffering with this CRAP for over 15 years, Idiopathic small fiber PN - I've been on Lyrica and Oxy for many years and have adjusted to my life. I'm always tired, dealing with constipation and have to monitor my daily activity. BUT every couple of months my right arm swells up and just plane ole HURTS. It feels weak like if it was a leg and I have walked way to much. Usually it is three or four times a year, but it is getting more often and I have to saw I am so over more pain! Anyone have this type of a thing?? Oh and typing is the worse thing I can do - so this is short. Any ideas. To make matters worse I had skin cancer on that shoulder about two years ago. So the removal of the cancer, and the radiation also flared it up even more. BUT I was in one of these flare up's when the cancer was found and have had them years prior.... HELP

Hi,

Have you been able to link any triggers or activities to it? Any possibility of symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome brought on by posture, sleeping in a funny position, repetitive strain etc.? Did radiation contribute to already challenged lymph drainage perhaps?

Just brainstorming here....

I hope you find relief soon,

Maybe consider physical therapy? I was told that we are susceptible to pinched nerves; The PT is helping a little

Thanks for your help Usually this develops when I type too much - even the clicking of the mouse shows exactly where the pain starts. YES, I believe the radiation added to this sensitivity. I did go once to a "drainage" specialist when I lived in another state - that is a good idea. THANKS

Thanks so much - I have had lots of help from "oils" - I will try this rosemary oil today. I have been using magnesium (which is to help with muscle issues) but I will add this and let you know! Thanks again!!

This may be off base, but is it possible that part of the problem is in the way you sleep? I know if I'm not careful, I mess my right shoulder up and for a week or two, I wonder if my pn has spread to my arm, because it hurts and becomes kind of numb. For what's its worth, I can't sleep with my hand under my pillow.

I have the same thing in different areas of my body from whatever is causing the SFN. It is like recurrent injuries that attack the muscles in random areas. Right now I have it in the back of my thigh. These things come and go with the same duration of a work out or pulled muscle injury.
