Default PN While Pregnant

I was diagnosed with Idiopathic (grrrr) Peripheral Neuropathy about a year and a half ago. I'm in my early thirties with no other health concerns so this really seemed to come out of no where.

I do trust in my neuro and the multitude of tests he ran to exclude other underlying causes but I'm still left with no answers. I went gluten free January of 2015 and really started feeling some relief in symptoms-- even went MONTHS without having symptoms.

I recently got pregnant and have been feeling fine, nerve-wise up until I got my flu shot at about 12 weeks(regretting about a month ago. Since then, I've gotten the bee stings, twitches and burning sensations back. I made an appointment with my neuro and mentioned the flu shot theory and he seemed to shoot it down and assume it was more to do with my pregnancy.

Soooo, has anyone:

1.) Felt relief for months and then had periods of symptoms returning?
2.) Been pregnant and had symptoms worsen
3.) Had symptoms worsen immediately after flu shot

If you have any other suggestions on what to push my neuro on, I'm happy to hear them

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear about the return of your symptoms, Sara.

I can't provide any input on your specific questions, but I can tell you that my symptoms hit a month after going off the birth control pill which I'd been on for 22 years. My neuro completely blew off any connection which didn't sit right with me.

Here's what a Johns Hopkins page has to say about it, FWIW.

http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healt...opathy_134,51/

"In many cases, a different type of medical problem, such as a kidney condition or a hormone imbalance, leads to peripheral neuropathy."

I can only go by my own experience with the nerve damge issues and there has got to be a reason for the damage, am I not right? I never had an issue until nerve damage from hip replacement at 72. I haven't used a lot of meds in my life, did BC pills for some yrs, had hysterectomy in my early 40's and no nerve damage there but did end up with sciatic damage but have it under control all these years.

My friend was told ideopathic for many years and then it finally came to light, it was from years of statins. So there has to be a reason right. Can one get nerve damage from bumping a foot or whatever. I think I've read there are 100's of reasons for nerve damage.

I know many issues can come out of dsyfunctional thyroid, but nerve issues? Don't know.

Throw me into the camp that started getting PN a month after a big hormone issue. For me, I was on the pill, ended up having heavy bleeding, had to go on high dose progesterone for weeks, and finally got off of everything-and BAM! Neuropathy started.

There is no doubt in my mind that this did something to my body. Even now, during certain times of the month, I will get flares that magically go away once that phase of the cycle has passed.
