Hi I am new here, a little scared and looking for some help or to vent or whatever.
About 2 weeks ago I started noticing "pings" in my toes. Gradually that spread to pins and needles, numbness, itching and then to my hands, and arms. It's not painful, it's annoying. It's going on all day but it's not constant through out the day. Yesterday it was both ring fingers and pinkies and moving all over from toes to bottom of feet to top etc. Today it's mostly the pinkies feeling numb but my arms and legs, back, stomach etc are all itchy. No dry skin, no rash. No other obvious symptoms. I am a 45 year old female with HBP and have been on Lisinopril, Amlodipine and Hydrochlorothiazide for 2 years. 2 years ago when we were trying out different meds I had a bad reaction when I was put on a higher dose of the water pill - arm and leg numbness and tingling and the same on my chin and lips. They knocked me down (12.5mg) and that went away. This somewhat feels the same but not as bad as that was. I went to the Dr yesterday and he ordered a ton of blood work that I won't be able to get drawn until Saturday morning. Said it could be vitamin deficiency, Lymes Disease, caused by diabetes(not diagnosed - yet anyway) maybe B12 but he fears it's more "neuro" whatever that means. I have to go see a Neuro for a Emg which he said was painful(great) but I called today and that soonest appt I could get was 2 months from now. I am so frustrated not knowing what this could be. I know maybe I'll get answers next week from bloodwork but just wondering what the possibilities or probabilities are based on other's experiences. HELP - :*( |

Those were HBP meds. HCTZ is a Thiazide diuretic. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker.
Non are antibiotics however back in February I had a persistent UTI and was put on Levaquin for 6 days, then Bactrim then something else (I forget). No symptoms till about 10-12 days ago. Something I forgot to mention to my DR which I will mention when they do the draw tomorrow is several months ago - possibly May or so - I suddenly had a raised, red and VERY itchy rash on both thighs. Never went to the Dr just self treated. It was like a "dry" poison ivy almost although I was never exposed to any of it and always wear pants etc. Not sure if that would be of use to mention but I will tell him anyway. I am walking/managing fine but today my arms burn, much like they do after you have worked out. Toes and pinky fingers feel like they are asleep but they're not. I can feel them, type fine etc. ![]() Hoping I find out something soon and it's something he can treat ![]() Thank you for your comments! |

I know the class of abx which Levaquin and Cipro are in, have done a lot of joint/muscle damage to folks I've heard from over the years. You might look at that.
I have a friend in a class action suit of Lipitor (statin) which she took for many years and has a lot of nerve damage primarily in feet. I have a couple toes on my right foot (right side of my body is from hip replacement mess) that start to pain and burn now most nights. I can only think it's all related to the surgery I went thru in 2010. When this comes on I get up and rub my feet and add a topical solution I use, I use many and finding tea tree oil helps too. I usually get back to sleep but if I think it might take some time I take an Inositol. Oh, I was going to do some research on Inositol and neuropathy. Most days NOW I take 750 mg Inositol part of this is with my sleep combo. C |
