How to live well with Neuropathy. Try telling that to my husband who has had it for over 25 years with no known cause. He's tried everything. I just got him a Temper Pedic kind of mattress topper. He LOVES it. But he still shakes his feet all night long until he is so tired he finally falls asleep. He's tried all the lotions, potions, creams. About 13 years ago he used the Fentanyl pain patch but had to go off it. He had to go into rehab to get off the last 25 of the patch. They actually threw him out of rehab after one day because they didn't know what Fentanyl was (He walked into that place wearing the patch). They took blood, did not find any drugs in his system, told him he did not qualify for rehab, sent him home, and he had to detox for one week in the bed. Not a happy time. Since then, he's tried everything, either it doesn't work, or the side effects are so bad, etc.

All that really helps him is when I give him a full body massage down his spine. He goes AAAHHH!!! I suspect it's his spinal stenosis but who the heck knows after over 20 years. He only has it in his feet (they burn) and between certain toes. They tingle. I can't imagine how he lasted this long.

He explains it to people saying 'Imagine if your hand falls asleep and you shake it to make the buzzing stop", They go "oh yeah, I had that happen". Alan would then say 'In my case, it never stops buzzing". They just look at him and say OMG.
