Do you have the written report for your spine?
Some of your symptoms can be from the spine if the nerve is impinged. Or did the spine dr? say symptoms not related?

Have you done EMG or skin biopsy that confirms peripheral neuropathy ? Quote:
I don't know whether the nerves that receive the sensation from the bladder can be affected by SFN. The autonomic nervous fibers that controls the bladder path from the brain through the spinal cord and exits from the lower part of the spine. So another option might be that any damage along this path can affect the bladder. Quote:
Your facial sensory symptoms might be attributed to the trigeminal nerve. I’m not sure, as far as I remember the lower part of the trigeminal nerve is located in the upper cervical spine. Do you feel these symptoms on one side of the face ? or is it symmetric ? The trigeminal nerve has 3 branches. When I had trigeminal neuralgia I felt the pain and other weird sensation only on one side of the face and the exact borders of each of these branches. |

Thank you for your help, Still Hoping.
![]() Well, it's all over really, not just on one side. Nose, ears, top of head, back, tongue, lips, etc. Tingling, numbness, electric currents. I'm not sure whether it's a mechanical issue for me, or whether there is some overlap, because we do have the skin biopsy and know that I have SFN. The physicians seemed adamant that the cervical spine issues, mostly beginning at C2-3 but primarily lower down, could not be causing my mouth dryness, or all the other symptoms I know above. What were your symptoms for trigeminal neuralgia like? I hope they've resolved. How are they now? Quote:

I started a Alternative therapies info thread - PEMF, LLLT, Acupuncture , etc.
If anyone has an interest in or tried any of these feel free to post about it. here- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...d.php?t=230128

I guess it is more likely that dryness would be caused by over productive sympathetic system or week parasympathetic, or some type of inflammation in the glands, then from a mechanical damage in the cervical spine. I took some neuroanatomy courses but I am not a physician, so.... Quote:
There were many pain attacks each day and touching the area, wind, swollowing food etc were triggers. Since then sometimes I still feel symptoms in the head like yours, tingling, electric shock, numbness, it comes and goes, but usuallly it is only on one side of the face. It is pretty wierd to feel the distinct borders... half nose is tingling.... electric shock/reduced sensation only on the upper right lip when putting a moisturizing cream... electric shock when touching the right eye brow but not the left... sensitivity on one side of the scalp when combing my hair... I don't feel these distinct borders with the numbness, tingling, burning etc in the rest of the body that were caused by the SFN |

Again, thank you so much for all this. I'm learning quite a lot from a number of people on here and I'm grateful for that. My and my physicians' suspicion is also that the mechanic issues are not causing any symptoms, certainly not any of the main or pronounced ones, and you seem to agree. Yes, mine are all over, say my right eye right now (twitching) and my left temple (tingling).
I'm sorry you had such a miserable condition but glad to hear it has gone away. It sounds truly miserable, not that anything any of us have is a walk in the park! I was half asleep the other night and I think I had a very sharp pain go through my jaw/teeth, but I couldn't be sure and it hasn't happened since, so I've ignored it. I don't have issues when chewing. I do only get a sharp electric current, like shocking sensation, only on my right side, from rear cheek or eye to nose, but it's very rare. I wonder what that is. It never happens on my right side. Who knows though. After a certain point I just throw my hands up and say the body is a strange thing and I can try my best to heal myself holistically. Thanks again for all this information! Quote:

Thought perhaps I should look into trigeminal neuralgia, symptoms, causes and treatment, in case some of my symptoms, say that shop can be caused by it. How does it come about, for example, I wonder. Is it mechanical or damage of some other sort, etc. Not sure about any of all this, but perhaps worth looking into.

This was very useful for me. I have serious issues in L5-S1. I will bring up the information from the chart next month when I see the muscular skeletal doctor. Thanks!
