This is a very complete monograph on niacin:
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/vitamins/niacin Niacin is used in high doses as a "drug" to lower cholesterol. As such it has a risk potential for causing liver damage. The flush from niacin can be very unpleasant (burning and tingling all over the body). The other forms of it, nicotinamide, or inositol hexanicotinate do not cause the flush. Niacin deficiency is described by the 3 D's. Dermatitis, Dementia, and Death. Niacin is depleted by birth control pills, and long term use of most antibiotics.

Thanks, Mrs.D. The Pure Encapsulations B-Complex I take has 100 mg of Niacine as niacinamide and 10 mg of inositol hexaniacinate (no-flush niacin) in it.

On this niacin and I've worked with it for years off and on.
These days I take 100mg Niacin and it does not cause flushing. I've never taken the non flush niacin. And for Osteoarthritis I've been taking Niacinimide 500-1000mg most days for a couple yrs. No problems that I know of. On the nerve issue, talking to a bridge friend yesterday, she was asking if anyone had an idea of why her fingers were starting to tingle...I went right to: do you take statins and she said Yes for a couple yrs. I believe she's doing a lot of dr. google today. I talked a little about this group and the nerve issues experienced here. |

I suppose I should have asked you what you think about these amounts and kind, MrsD. I feel great with the new addition of the B12 and this B-complex, so far at any rate, I can say that much.
