Default Iodine deficiency

I just got some new blood work back and I have an iodine deficiency. Before I do my research to see if this is another piece to the puzzle of my disease, does anyone know of its relation to nerve damage or pathogens that can cause nerve damage?
My thyroid tests are normal by the way.
