Confused Warts or Calluses from PIN???

I have idiopathic neuropathy now for about 20 years. It is mostly in my feet but now it seems to be progressing to my ankles and legs. I don't take any medication yet but I don't know how long that will last.

My problem now is warts, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this due to neuropathy. About a year ago I had one on my left shin which the doctor cut away. Then a few months after I had one on each of the balls of my feet in the exact same place on each foot. My doctor cut them out but the one on my right foot had to be frozen by a dermatologist. I NEVER want to go through that again. The pain after the treatment was unbearable but it did manage to get rid of the wart.

My doctor told me it was a plantar wart, but I've never heard of them being on the shin. Right now I have two spots that hurt on my left foot on the ball of my foot. I'm just wondering if they are warts or calluses from maybe ill-fitting shoes. The only shoes I can wear are Birkenstock sandals that have the toe ring so the front of my foot is lifted when I walk. I do wear sneakers if I have to go out in the cold.

I'm just trying to figure things out because it seems strange I would have warts exactly in the same place on each foot. I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this issue. I would appreciate any input from anyone on this wonderful forum as to whether you've ever had plantar warts or calluses on the bottom of your feet.

warts are contagious...caused by a virus.

They usually occur where there is reduced blood flow...because the immune system cannot get to them easily to remove them.
If your immune system is not up to snuff, warts may be easy to contract.

I do some Googling about how to avoid them and keep them from spreading.

People walking barefoot alot, are at risk for plantar's warts.
If you shower in a gym wear flip flops and rinse them periodically in a dilute bleach solution. If you wear sandals without socks, rinse the liner with alcohol periodically. This applies to new sandals, as they may have been tried on by someone who carries the wart virus.

This link is quite good and may be helpful for you:

That link was very informational...I will make an appointment with a podiatrist. I'm thinking maybe it's calluses because of certain pressure points when I walk. I'm hoping he can help me with inserts or types of shoes I should be wearing. Right now with a gel insert I don't have any pain, or when I touch the spot there is no pain.
