442 days sober. I have had some neuropathy symptoms lately probably due to stress (I am leading a construction), still it is managable. Also had no chance to sleep 8 hours every day, but I found that a stable sexlife helps too, which now I am lucky to have after a long period of abstinence. I am still fighting it. I discovered that the same level of stress or sugar gives me less symptoms as time passes. I take that as improvement. Still neuropathy is a good indicator I might slow down and eat well and not to drink again.

Feeling good, walked about 2 miles today in the mountains and spent too much money at the Belk  Trees are starting to bud and it's warm...I love living this far south! |
So some questions as I realize still being within two years of last drinking is still fairly early in any recovery process, but I have a couple questions for some of you more veteran members.
First, does anyone else have some GI issues when their neuropathy flares up? I have noticed in times I feel the worst, I am also in the bathroom more. Also, has anyone else gone from stretches of what you might call mostly mild flaring to much more significant? Again, I am probably in that year and a half range of things, and this has been a very surprising uptick considering I hadn’t had much flaring, and certainly of any significant note, recently. Again it’s awesome to see those who continue to grow that days since number, and mine is well beyond the one year mark, too! |

Passed my real estate exam this week...writing the national\state portion in two weeks! More walking in my future! |

Now I can't even do fast food (except Chik-Fil-A) and we eat a lot of meats and salads now :) |

It’s just crazy how like clockwork, almost anytime my pain levels really go up, this happens with it. |

I wish everyone a symptom free life as much as possible! |

That said, I do have an extra variable in the equation. I reacted badly to an antiobiotic that has now been shown to cause neuropathy. I was finding a couple years ago that when I drank, no matter the amount, I had pain. So two years ago mid July, I stopped. Pain levels have mostly been good since, but do still have times, like now, where it’s not much fun. Usually fairly short flares, although I found last summer, covid is something that also doesn’t play well with neuropathy. As a teacher, around tons of germ carriers, I have wondered if I maybe had a mild case that just seemed like my allergies, but is gifting more neuropathy now. That is my double, and occasional triple, whammy now. |
I apologize for the vent, but it’s amazing how crazy neuropathy is.
It’s wild how out of the blue your entire body can just feel a bomb went off in it, and without any real warning., either. |

I really am wondering now if what I thought was a stomach flu awhile back was covid. It certainly would explain such a crazy flare up now more than anything else would based on how things have been in my almost two years not drinking. |

I am now a licensed realtor here in Virginia! :p We are walking about 2 miles a day, getting ready for a trip to Israel in a few months that will have us walking about 2-4 miles a day...I am little nervous but I can do it!!!!! No pain or any issues this month....but it's been a lazy month. :D |
Wow, bummer this thread is going to end.
I want to thank everyone for their feedback as I have been pretty active on here these last two years, or so. Such a great source of information and also great to see the over ten years of progress several have made! |

We will ensure this thread can continue by moving it (and part 1) to the Peripheral Neuropathy forum here at NeuroTalk when the Mental Health section closes here. That way all participating on this long running discussion can continue to support one another and share their progress. |

Greetings from Newfoundland! What an amazing place, but I still would not want to live here...the weather is awful ;) Feeling great and life is near perfect....all thanks to Jesus and the peace that comes with knowing where you are going! See you all here next month! |
I am curious, has anyone still checking this thread tried prp injections?
It sounds like they have shown some promise helping to regenerate nerve growth. |
Hi to longtime and new users of this thread :)
We have moved it from the now closed Addictions section here at NT, but hope it will continue to be a thread for encouragement and progress in your journey. :grouphug: |

Hey, it was exactly 12 years ago today that I was arrested and thrown in jail! What a great day! I sobered up shortly after and then went through withdrawal for a week and then my mind started to clear. What a journey to from jail to walking again and now having a near perfect life! Praise God!! If I can do it....so can you! |

Planning a move half way across the country. What will this broken vessel do next? We are saddened to leave the recovery group we started, but God has something much bigger for us :) Anyone want to buy a custom home with a mountain view? ;) Ice out. |

It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTmas....what a wonderful time of year to reflect on being alive! I have started seeing a DO here in Virginia (doctor of osteopathic medicine) and I see marked improvements already! After two visits I can stand still for longer periods of time, my balance is improving and she thinks I will be jogging in the near future. I gave her that as a goal.... :) Ice out. |

Anyone still read this thread or am I just talking to myself these days? |

Not much to report except the DO I am seeing is AMAZING and I hope to be jogging in the next coupe months (not for fun, just to say that I can do it) We have a deal that if she can get me to jogging\running then I owe her dinner.... :) |
804 days sober. After more than 2 years of fighting, strict diet and exercise, I managed to have only a few days per month with a very slight disturbance, which does not effect my life or mood anymore. That is 98% symptom free. I wish to continue so. The only symptom for now and only in difficult stressful situations is a very occasional pin in the fingers, but with long intervals, like a few per day. I wish everyone healing and peace!

Had 24 trees planted, so I am watering daily, but I have found myself doing a little job from the last tree back to the house :) It won't be long and I will have reached my ultimate physical goal! I love my life :) |

It's getting hot here in the "south" and the convertible is awake for another 9 months! Grandbaby #1 is on the way this month and I am pretty sure this will be the best year ever! I have been successful in jogging a little, half a KM or so, and it wears me out....but I did it!! It's been 20+ years since I could run....baby steps to a new life! |
That sounds really awesome, well done Ice.
