Wondered if anyone has had injections into the nerves around your spine with "trimcinolone"? I have really major pain sitting straight up or lying flat - and since I cant take any opiates due to allergies - only take tylenol and it doesnt touch the pain when I'm putting direct pressure on my spine... (lumbar disks are pressing on the nerves).... my pain doc has set me up for injections in a couple of weeks, she does in her office with a fluoroscope, said the shots would not go into the spinal cord (I had a lumbar headache for a week after a spinal tap so theres no way I'd ever do that again)..... but says people do get side affects like headache, fevers, feeling flushed.... and the shots may or may not help at all...
I'm very leary of new meds - had so many adverse and unexpected drug reactions in the past.... and also of getting stabbed in the back and getting the headache.... They have tried PT but each one has given up because says too much pain to be able to do the exercises - so if the shots work for a while - may be able to stengthen my back a bit while not feeling it so bad.... Appreciate any feedback - only position that really doesnt hurt right now is semi-reclined laying down.. (oh, they tried tens and did nothing - said it wasnt strong enough) ![]() |

got me a paper from 1978, so I guess it's not new untried technology?
This is all media oriented, but... http://uscspine.com/treatment/steroid-injections.cfm This is also fairly recent: http://www.ispub.com/ostia/index.php...n1/steroid.xml Not the answers you want but, possibly starting points? I guess it comes down to: which pain came first? Pain A or Pain B? Which pain is worse? Pain A or Pain B? Oh for a new pain vocabulary! Good thoughts - j |

Shiney Sue - thanks for asking Bob - will be curious to hear how he did and maybe if he knows - what specifically type of meds he had? (and yes, when my printer just "died" - did so with a very loud grind! - poor thing!)
Dahlek - in this case right now "A" - no surgery - doc would like to do surgery and said would in a "normal" person she would - but with my heath issues and also not being able to take strong pain killers, cant - this is a temp fix.... I'm hoping to be able to separate gut and back pain in this actually.... if it does work at all - but shes not giving me her normal cocktail I know that cause of drug allergies (including novacaine cause no ephinephrine) - but after talking with other docs, thinks its worth a try anyway.... ![]() |
