My gout diagnosis has been changed to neuropathy. What type of progression can I expect?

Your neurologist should do a nerve fiber test to get a baseline on your neuropathy. If the standard oral medications do not work, then ask about Immune Globulin infusions. There is a form of neuropathy that is autoimmune and can be better controlled with this infusion. It is costly. You can ask the pharmacy for a financial waiver and possibly get your medication for free. Check with the nurse in your doctor's office to see who calls on them for IVIG. Call that person and ask about the financials. Best of luck! Neuropathy will usually worsen over time and especially depending on the source cause.

I don't think it's possible to ever know what progression to expect. Members of this forum report a huge variety in severity and speed of progression; sometimes improvement; as well as plateaus, and symptoms going away for various periods of time and later returning, more severe, less severe, or the same.
