Default Not a good day for me..........

HI All,
It's been pouring down all day here in Houston and I'm having lots of pain today.....and lots of that buzzing feeling. Does rain normally cause PN pain for anyone else? It's not real hot here now but the humidity is very high. I usually have my IVIG on Wed. but my nurse had a schedule conflict so I'm having it tomorrow morning instead.......so maybe I'm just in need of an infusion.
Hope everyone else is having a good day......Roxie

Default Sorry for

your pain Roxy and I hope your infusion tomorrow brings much relief. I don't find that the rain per se bothers me as much as temperature changes, particularly dramatic ones - my favorite time is when a fast moving cold front moves through after a thunderstorm - most everyone else breathes sighs for blessed relief and I start looking for the pain meds big time. Winter time snow shoveling is a treat too particularly if ones feet and toes are never warm.

Didn't mean to go way off on a tangent - I do hope your infusion helps a lot and that tonight won't be too unpleasant.
Good thoughts and much relief to you!!

Hi Roxie.

Alan has the exact opposite reaction when it rains. He goes "AAAHHHHH", it must be raining cats and dogs outside, all my pain is gone".

It's amazing how the temperature affects PN so differently in people.

Also, the IVIG has had nothing to do with his pain relief either and his neuro told him "It's really not for pain, it's for your immune system", but it did help with his balance (not that we really knew there was anything wrong with his balance anyway, because we did not), but she noticed at the neuro appointment that he was better in certain ways.

But it really hasn't done anything for his pain.

The only thing that works for his pain is when he goes to the gym. He can't wait for the foot ulcer to heal. That means he goes back to exercising.

I do hope you feel better soon.

Melody

Default For me, I just seem to feel...

more numb, more cold and 'zappy' when weather fronts come in. The barometer goes rapidly up or down and I start to grit my teeth and want to complain...I usually talk to the TV or the 'puter as it really doesn't change anything. I just get IT all out.

For me, during and after infusions my 'nerves' seem less buzzy and I can actually FEEL some of my super tense muscles relax - usually in the first 1/2 hour of the infusions. Since I take my Benedryls [3] right before starting the infusions [my nurse & I have this down pat...First off: while she watches I swallow them, and then the whole prep and start stuff happens. It usually takes the B's about an hour to kick in so IT's just gotta be the infusions. After the infusions I sleep the benedryl off and am able to move around so much better and, well, happier. I also start to feel WARM in my toes, and they are actually warm to touch as well. Can't beat that! Now all they have to do is figgure out a way to create time-release 'doses' of IVIG! THAT would be beyond super! Wouldn't that be a wonderful idea?

Hope things dry out and lighten up! - j

Hi. I'm sorry your struggling again and in pain. I just wrote a topic about this that also side tracted but about pain and temps. I was wondering more about the cold but I'm also interested on what climates effect others. The rain for me has not been an issue but the cold makes me hurt more for sure and also it makes me feet freeze where they feel numb yet more pain in the effected area and constant ache.Too bad we can't control the weather but I may move cause of it. Good luck with your ivig tomorrow and I'm doing a "sun" dance for dry weather for you. Hugs

(((((((((Roxie)))))))))))

I'm sorry to hear that.

Maybe tomorrow will be all that much better... sometimes it works that way, a bad day is followed by an unexpectedly good one.

I LOVE your signature... the hummingbird is great!

I am truly sorry to read your having such a rough time now, i really do hope it improves very soon for you, it is weird how our nerves react to the weather, sure proves they are damaged alright, i know mine used to carry on when the humidity was high,
hoping the IVIG will help change things.
all the best
Brian

HI All! Thanks for all the posts. You guys are great!
I had a rough night but doing a little better today......it's not raining today, it's sunny and warm.....so maybe that's helping too. I'm sitting here waiting for my nurse to arrive for my IVIG and drinking my water to hydrate! Take care all!

Hi Roxie,

Neat! Thank you for writing. It's made me feel better. I've been struggling this morning... Your message reminded me to look outside, and once I did, there are my morning glories...

So thank you!
