Default I'm still dealing with my school district........

I gave my school district a letter from my dr. saying I can return to work part time and that I have a disability. I received a letter from the district on Thurs. afternoon saying they wanted "more information from my dr...including what disability I have".
Mike and I talked to the ADA atty and he said we'll have to play the districts game at this point. He said legally I don't have to tell them what disability I have....BUT IF I want to return to work......I should go ahead and tell them the disability and have my dr. fill out the paperwork.
So tomorrow I have an appt with my dr. Mike and I have written out all the answers to the questions the districts has asked " What percentage of time can you lift, bend, sit, stand, walk yada yada yada!!!" So hopefully my dr. will fill out the paperwork in my favor.....I think he will. He hates paperwork and crap that companies give their workers. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow....keep your fingers crossed for me!

Yeah, Rox. (Foxy Roxie),

Good Luck.

By the way, did you see what pics I posted on my thread "Foot Center"?. I took pics of Alan's boot.

And I explained how I put cotton balls between each toes to uncompress his nerves. He says it's working and his pn is much better.

Who knew that just stretching toes (like when you go for a pedicure and they put that thing between your toes), would help with his PN. But he is sitting inside and he said the pain was much better.

Hey, if it works, we do it.

Melody

Good luck with your issues with the school. Just the stress of this can't be good for your PN, so hopefully this will resolve itself soon. Our schools here start this week, how about yours?

Off Topic: Hope "Dean" stays away from Texas.

Hi - I'm sure regarding what the law is now about detailing your exact disability to employer - but I know I required all my employees who were reuqesting reasonable accomodations to obtain an MD note.... also, if there was something that was a medical condition that could affect you doing your job safely, or perhaps a seizure order etc. that coudl require immediate action on your employers part, its important... (I worked at a senior level in HR - and I was often the only other person other then the direct manager who had these details - but were considered important)..... in some cases its not feasible to make accomodations, e.g. a truck driver who can longer feel their feet - it would be dangerous to all involved and the job could no longer safely be done by them..... anywhere I was - we were able to accomodate employees - but I also had a deal with them if there was an issue where they needed to be out, to contact me directly and until they could return to work with a doctors clearnance - they needed to let me know their status. Co-workers were never privy to this inforrmation unless the employee choose to share it... so atually sounds routine!

Also, the the nature of the business - complying with ADA is a federal regulation - so the employee needs to provide medical evidence.

Sending the best....

Its funny to hear about the cotton balls, but I'm certainly going to try it, as I have noticed that if I place my foot in a certain position with the toes separated it relieves some of the pain!

HI! Thanks everyone for your best wishes.

KMEB, Thanks for that info. That relieves my worries some. I'll be glad to have all this craziness overwith!

Diane and Dakota, I do think all this stress has made my pn worse. I've been in pain all week. I hope once I get it all figured out I'll start feeling better again!

Mel, That's great news about the cotton balls working to lessen Alan's nerve pain! Some times it's the littlest things that help. You just never know till ya try!

I'm SOOOOOO glad the hurricane isn't coming to Texas.......I do feel sorry for those who are getting hit hard by it though.

Well I'm off to my dr. appt and then to the school.......ugh! I'll let y'all know how it goes!

Good luck. I'm sorry your in pain too. I thought they were not allowed to ask the specific why of your medical issues at your job. What does it matter if your doc says your unable if its from x,y,or z. Well good luck.
