Mike and I took the paperwork to my dr. this morning (actually it was afternoon because we sat in the waiting room for about an hr and a half!) We had already filled out the copies of the sheets ourselves in what we hoped the dr. would use to copy from.......well he didn't exactly do that. We had a copy of my job description which states all the stuff I should be able to do for my job.....one of them being 'lifting up to 100 pounds' , pushing, kneeling, standing, bending etc........ My dr. stated that I couldn't lift over 25 pounds (because of the Arthritis I have in my shoulder and knee), that I can't bend or kneel.....on and on......you get the picture. I'm sure he thought he was doing me a favor by writing all that but actually I think he slit my wrist. I don't think the school district is going to allow me to work if I can't do all those things at 100%. Also I had to give my school district a copy of my biopsy that proved I have Neuropathy and the MRI that showed I have Arthritis. The district asked if we'd give the district access to my file at the dr. office! We said "NO! We'll send you the biopsy report and the MRI report!" I didn't want them rummaging thru my whole file with blood work and other MRI's etc....not that I have anything to hide......I just don't care for everyone at the Adm. Bldging knowing all that info. So anyway, the PR gal for the district said she'd give all the info to the Superintendents Assistant and she'll get back with us.....in 1-2 weeks. In the mean time I'm on FMLA with no money coming in and will probably have to come up with money to pay my own insurance premiums till I get a pay check (after I start back to work) Isn't life just SO much fun??? lol

As long as you are on some sort of 'short term leave', I believe you only have to pay the 'employee's' costs, not the whole shebang? That really doesn't change the stress on the cash-flow, but keeping continuious insurance is a MAJOR primary issue here, I'm thinking.
I know it seems like an 'invasion of privacy' regarding what THEY want to know, but at times they too need to legitimize your case regarding how they 'accomodate, pay and treat' you. It can be come a slippery slope for you and them. BUT, one thing to keep in mind is that 'personnel people not only encounter this stuff a lot [some valid, some bogus] BUT they have to keep their mouths SHUT, absolutely SHUT about your case. Should anything 'get out' in an improper fashion their butts are gonna be on a street corner! Or a lawsuit - I've been in enuf personnel positions to know that well and true. - j |

Good Evening J!
How are you doing tonight? I would hope too that everyone who reads my info that's being sent to school will be discreet about it. It's just that the school district is in a small town....where everyone knows everyone else (or is related to them) and their business. I used to live over there as well as work there so I found this stuff out first hand. I'll just be glad when all this school stuff is over with cause I'm majorly stressing over it!

or big corporations...folks WANT TO KNOW what the 'personnel folks' know about them? and Others...It adds to a mystique of a job that's essentially one to coordinate a lot of important work w/some dirty work as well and keep MUM about it all. Only their therapist should know for sure and they too have to keep MUM about it all. OR, should.
Hang in there! - j |

Roxie, I'm sorry the beaurocracy is getting to you. I sure wouldn't want anyone rummaging around my whole medical file, and it doesn't seem reasonable. It shouldn't be so hard to work when you are willing and able.
