Aside from the other stuff going on right now - my neuro ordered today another brain scan (who I've been seeing for two years) - this will be number #4 Brain in seven years (had full spine etc too and lumbar is damaged, but thats diff)...

If my PN is absent sensory (and motor now jumping on the band wagon) - I would assume that ataxia, loss of balance, etc. is part of the deal... the other docs in the past early on were first looking for MS - then flat out told me they were sure I had a brain tumor.... today the doc told me that he wants to look again cause it has been a few years and my lack of balance etc. is so off it again makes him very suspicious that there is some disese process going on.... doesnt everyone with complete sensory loss in their legs have loss of balance etc.?

If he is looking for disease process - any idea what it would be?

An MRI may not be a bad thing. I would have it done just in case there is something that they have not caught. You do raise a very intresting point, and I often wonder the same thing meself.

Where does sensory PN end and motor PN begin. People with small fibre seem to have alot of pain,cramping and twitching. people with large fibre sensory have balance problems,numbness,and loss of position sense.

There seems to be alot of overlapping in symptoms. I have small fibre PN,and have had tons of cramping,and now occasional twitching.

I could probably use an MRI meself it's been over 2 years since me last one.

Aussie - my damage is predominatey large fiber (shown on biopsy) so its loss of sensation, propeciation (sense of where I in space) and numbness, just like you said.....

--as long as it won't be at any major financial cost to you.

The thing is, many of us (you fall into this category, I'm sure) are "complicated cases" that may have multiple ongoing issues.

Especially with neuro symptoms, those from damage to the peripheral system can be exactly mimicked by those from damage to the central system.

And--there are conditions that damage both systems--many nutrient deficiencies (especially B12), toxic exposures, viral assaults, and vasculitic autoimmune disorders (this may be what they're looking for, given your back and forth with the possibility of amyloid over the years--amyloid "plaquing" could show up on brain MRI with contrast, and not just the kinds associated with Parkinson's or Alzheimer's. . .).

They may also be looking for any evidence of ischemic disorders of the brain (strokes/TIA's).
