Red face mystique....

This question does come up now and then. That is why I am showing you
my vacation pics. I have a normal life (if you can imagine our vacation spot as "normal" LOL).

There are many people on the boards who do not show a picture of themselves.
I have my reasons. And they are good ones. And I won't go into that here.

I am not deformed.
I am not a man in drag (this comes up sometimes)
I have gray hair and wear trifocals.
I am not a slim ravishing beauty.
My own son does not take pictures of me either--I won't let him.
Perhaps this is a carryover from my abusive childhood...where
personal defamatory derogatory punishments were common, undeserved and mean.
When I read posts from others, I don't expect pictures either. I only need to know gender, and age, basically.

And as I have aged I don't really see the need to put my visage on a post.
Maybe in the future that will change. and maybe not.

So there is still that mystique for me...perhaps the last mystique I can have
as a senior?

I thought the photos were great Mrs D but I am another of your fans ( medically intentioned of course ) who is very upset at not seeing a full colour, full length, 3D photo of your goodself.

I understand the logic of your argument against such photographic reproductions but if you wait too long before exposing yourself to us all - so to speak, then some of your fans may well no longer be around . I for one cannot bear the thought of never ever knowing what you really look like.

What, you want a hologram? By the time those are available here I will certainly be a ghost/spirit in the next realm!

If you, had been harrassed and pursued on the internet by nasty people, Tony, like I have, you would understand. Besides, what do looks have to do with anything? And of course, I can't let those Lipitor hit men find me...they'd put a bomb in my car surely! LOL

Default Mrs D....

You did occasionally check in...I'd figured two things? One if something happened, we would have heard somehow...since not I just assumed option TWO - you were having a VACATION! I believe that's one does on these things isn't it? Get away, relax, deal with real and small practical mundane issues like starting the FIRE rather than stupid traffic and all that.

I am glad you are back, happier that you are home tho [purely selfish, of course] and that all cats are home as well. - j

MrsD,

Welcome back! Always so happy to know you're off to a great, restorative vacation you deserve. But, selfishly, it's always difficult to see you go.

So you shall continue to be the mysterious Mrs. D. I think that's adorable.

We can picture you any way we wish. Maybe you're 5 feet 10, 120 lbs, maybe not!!!

Oh, the pictures are gorgeous. Especially the sunset. I can only imagine sitting there and just breathing in all that lovely fresh air and looking at the birds and the animals. How lovely!!!

Just to go off topic a bit, since I look completely different at 60 than I did at 40, I don't give a hoot who knows what I look like. But I completely understand your wish to keep your visage private. (love that word visage).

I get a kick out of when people walk right by me and they are my friends (they might live out of state, and haven't seen me in two years).

This happened yesterday at the funeral of my friend who just passed away.
Friends from out of state and from a long time ago came to the wake and walked right by me and Alan. You see, we used to weigh almost 300 lbs each, and now he looks a tad different (75 or so lbs less) and so do I).

My friend Vicki and her daughter walked right by me. I had to grab her and say Hi, and she is just staring at me. I literally had to whisper, "It's me, Melody, don't go into shock". I pulled her to the side. Her daughter said "I know this is not the appropriate time to go into this but my god, you two look really good" We reminisced like most people do who haven't seen each other in a long time. It's sad when the only time you see old friends is at either funerals or weddings.

I will never forget when my grandfather died. I was 24, and I had just lost 80 lbs in 5 months. (That should tell you of my weight problems all these years).

So here I am, 24, in a burgundy mini skirt and nice blouse and all my family comes in (they lived out of state), and there's my poor grandmother in the front row exclaiming "what's with all these flower arrangements? why can't people just give me the money", and I walk over to greet guests and no one recognized me. Then they started screaming in the funeral parlor. Guess I should have warned them that I lost 80 lbs. And there was my poor grandfather who had just passed at almost 90. Guess who was the topic of converstion that night??

Boy the stuff we remember 40 or so years later. lol

Sorry to go off topic but this was not a serious thread about anything specific, right??

Melody
