I get the same thing too!!! I get a whisper, sometimes through my arm, sometimes on my face and then it slowly comes on more and more over a period of about 30 mins to an hour. Has anyone tried taking meds that help to calm you down? If so did they reduce the symptoms?

there are times when I can definitely relate an increase in pain or a seeming lack of response of the pain to meds when I'm under a great deal of stress, right now would be a good example, my and I are both waiting to see if we are downsized this week, been waiting for ~ 2months so not a real good time for me.

Hi Alkymst:
I'm having such a bad day (just got off the phone with my friend who has a son who is an alcoholic) so we are going back and forth about our respective children. She is an enabler and I'm not an enabler. I actually hung up on her and she called me back. Can you imagine? I'm a 60 year old woman who hung up on her girlfriend. I haven't done that in my whole life. Boy, when my son calls me, he rings more bells in my body than I can say. So when I saw your post about possible downsizing, I realized you need a hug. I need a hug too. We all need a hug today. Bad day. I think the whole world should hug each other today. mel

Strong emotion is another matter. One angry episode will give me a three day flareup. It could be the gardening if you overdid. Exercise is essential in living with PN and in either healing or preventing progression. It's also essential for general health. But, our nerves are damaged and the receptor areas in our brains don't react to stimuli in a normal way. Added stimulation from muscle soreness, joint pain, and lactic acid buildup in the muscles can have unpredictable, painful results. You gave me, and probably others, a bit of humorous confusion when you mentioned the "glorious spring day". Here in the northern hemisphere, we're having glorious autumn days.

A most definite correlation from first hand experience - walked in to work this AM to find that my entire group was eliminated, we expected some changes but elimination was not one of them. About the worst day ever for my PN, not unlike many that I'm sure others have experienced but right now I'm lost in my own pain - this will take some time for me so I'll sit quietly on the sidelines while I work this out. It too shall pass but then so do kidney stones.

Alkymst,
I am ever so sorry! I can just imagine how much pain you are in. Please accept my sincerest wishes for a positive means to this end. I sweated layoffs, possible plant closings, possible dept. eliminations for years and I have been able to relate to the stress you have been in. But I never had to contend with it. I'm so sorry. That is a huge stressor!
Soak in some epsom salts in the tub to help your body handle this one! The magnesium is very calming. I hope you find another position soon.
