Default Alan just came home from the Health Fair in NYC

Hi All:

It was at the New Yorker Hotel and it was called New Life Healing.

Everything was hollistic. He just came home with this tote back filled with brochures on this gadget and that gadget they want everybody to buy. Of course these things cost over $2000. There was a guy there selling Walking Tall Orthotics (based in Florida). The guy wanted to bet Alan, $100 to Alan's $10.00 that if Alan put on the orthotics, he would not have any neuropathy nor would his ulcer bother him. Alan wouldn't take the bet, but he let Alan wear the orthotics anyway. Alan said "Oh my god, my neuropathy is gone and my ulcer doesn't hurt one bit". (Any comments would be appreciated on this one, my friends).

Now let's get to the Jiggler. You stand on this machine, hold on to the side rails and the machine does all the work. Picture a stair stepper that moves your feet up and down so fast you can't believe it. You have to hold on for dear life. The machine moves your feet up and down (hence the name JIGGLER), It supposedly increases circulation to the feet and it's like a workout. Ten minutes, twice a day. (Comments anyone??)

Then there was the Wellness Detoxification System. It's a portable sauna where you go in and sweat off everything. Alan said it looked exactly like a portable sauna. The description of this reads as follows:

Drug and old medicine detoxification
Cardiovascular conditioning
Calorie burning (600 calories in 30 min)

Then Alan has a pamphlet by Dr. Howard Robins on something called OZONE. Dr. Robins calls it The Claw of Life. He performs Direct IV ozone treatments achieving astonishing results across a wide array of medical conditions. Ozone treatments also cure every disease known to man, from HIV to Hepatitis B, etc. etc.

All in All, Alan went to seminars, and oh, he actually bought something good. He bought a pouch of some kind of Flax Seeds that you sprinkle over yoghurt or in cereal. I said "Alan, this is the best out of everything you saw there".

So comments please??

You mean to tell me that there isn't one thing that I wrote about, NOT ONE THING?? that has a possibility of improving the quality of someone's life??

What about the super oxygen ozone thing?? Honestly, I've never heard of super oxygen!!! Any truth to that??

Default All of the things mentioned--

--have the potential to help somebody, at some time, with some condition. Our bodies are so complicated that if someone says that a certain treatment/device/regimen cannot help anyone, that someone is most likely incorrect.

And, of course, many things accepted as mainstream treatments today started out as "crackpot ideas". A number of formerly "crackpot ideas" are in the process of becoming more mainstream--what this takes it time, good reports, and most importantly, good double blind studies that show benefit.

THAT is probably the best question to ask at these fairs--"Do you have any peer-reviewed articles/papers involving blinded studies that show a benefit to these things over placebo?" The reaction of people to that question may tell you all you need to know for now.

That sounded like a positive experience to me.
If it was comfortable enough, why didn't Alan want to go further with them?
Expense? Sometimes the ins cos. will cover if they are Rx'd.
Sounds like that one was good.

Default I would be careful.

Ozone? Not good for biological systems. This is a reactive oxygen and free radical damage is bad for blood vessels, and just about everything else.

That orthotic? Well, in my experience something may feel better for a short time, and then actually get worse. When it comes to the feet, the dominoe effect can be considerable, up the leg and into the back.

You know, Brian will like this-- I have started giving my limping arthritic cat some magnet treatments between her shoulders..and it seems to be working.
I am doing the 10,000 gauss small neodymium ones for about twenty minutes
at night when she comes to my bed. I have to hold it on her, but now she is learning to sit still and keep it in place-- she likes it! She seems to be walking better, and has stopped waking me up with "demands". I don't know why I didn't think about it sooner! DUH

Default Better get out your box of tissues. You are going to laugh you heads off.

Alan and I just came back from Dunkin Donuts and he told me “I saved the best for last (about what happened at the health fair). So here’s what happened.

He was going from booth to booth and everybody had this kind of health claim, and that kind of health claim. He came upon a booth where a man claimed to change a person’s DNA. Alan said “you are going to change my DNA?? How can you do this?. Do you take my blood??” And the man said “Oh, no, we will just operate on you”!!!

Alan said “Operate on me??? Where will you do this” and the guys says “Back in our offices” So Alan asks “how much is the operation?” and the guy responds “$33.00”

So Alan says “Let me get this straight, you are going to operate on me, change my DNA for $33.00”?? And the guy says “that’s right” And Alan says “and what is changing my DNA going to do?” and the guy says: “It will release your body of all toxins and diseases”.

So Alan is looking at the guy and says “Explain how you do this” The guy then says: “we cut into your spinal column …….then Alan says “Whoa, what do you mean, you cut into my spinal column???” and the guy picks up his hands as if to demonstrate he is holding the spinal column in his hands and he says “we take out your spinal column and we bend it this way and all the toxins are released” Alan looks at him and says “Let me get this straight, you are charging $33.00 to cut into my spine, take out my spinal column and bend it to release the toxins in my DNA??” And the guy says “Oh no, we don’t cut into the flesh, we cut into the spirit. It’s all in the spirit of the spinal column”.

Alan walked away from that one!!!!


Then there were the Triangle people. See, 14 years ago, Alan and I and our son had gone to a health fair and I will never forget the Triangle people. They were sitting at a table and theywere wearing triangle pyramid things on their heads. Now try and picture what they looked like. I remember laughing so hard I had to leave the area. So when I knew Alan was going to this health fair, I specifically told him to “look for the Triangle people”

Well, he did. I said ‘Did they still have the Triangles on the top of their heads?” and he said “Melody, once I passed by their table, I remembered you all those years ago and I had to leave before I burst out laughing and made a spectable of myself”.

Then he went into a seminar where a man started to talk about how he would heal everybody. He made them all get up and spread their arms open wide and press the energy force from way back in the room, to the front of their bodies. Then he said 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 1. Presto, You are all healed. I asked him if this helped his neuropathy?? And he said “are you for real”. Then (and here’s where I almost lost my breakfast, I laughed so hard, the guy said “Jesus Christ never ascended, he was supposed to ascend but he didn’t”. Then the guy said ‘we have all been seeded by aliens, we are aliens (like what the Scientologist believe). He also said “Jesus Christ was a healer like I am, and I can heal people”. He then said “all our sicknesses and diseases and pain are because we have the baggage of past lives in us and we have to ascend to the Federation”. Alan then said to himself “Federation, Federation?? Are we talking Star Trek??” I asked Alan, “what is the Federation?” and Alan said “I have no idea, but the lady next to me got up and walked out”. Alan said people were buying all these books and herbs and ointments and machines.

All I know is, if I had been there and saw the Triangle lady with that thing on the top of her head, I would have lost it again, just like I lost it 14 years ago.

I mean, really, do these people really think that wearing a triangle on ones head is going to get the toxins out of our body.

I do believe in the brain being the center of our body and we can somewhat try and release endorphins. That’s how the yogi’s in India reduce their heart rate and they can stand on one leg for weeks. They can control their breathing, their respiration, their everything. But this takes years of discipline, and not wearing of triangles on one’s head.

And imagine a person telling Alan he can change his DNA??

Then there was the guy who paid $25.00 for a picture. I said '$25.00??? for a picture of what?? And Alan Said "A guy took a picture of this man's aura" and the guy paid $25.00 to see what his colors were". Then the guy told the man "For $10 more, I'll evaluate your aura, and tell you what it means".

People must have made a fortune at this fair!!!

I mean really!!!

Hi Melody:

Hard to believe anyone can fall for such nonsense as Alan viewed and heard at that health fair.

P. T. Barnum said "There is one born every minute" and I think he was referring to suckers. I am so glad that your Alan could see through this silly stuff. Sheesh! Interesting to hear about though.
