Default Alan just came home from the Health Fair in NYC

Hi All:

It was at the New Yorker Hotel and it was called New Life Healing.

Everything was hollistic. He just came home with this tote back filled with brochures on this gadget and that gadget they want everybody to buy. Of course these things cost over $2000. There was a guy there selling Walking Tall Orthotics (based in Florida). The guy wanted to bet Alan, $100 to Alan's $10.00 that if Alan put on the orthotics, he would not have any neuropathy nor would his ulcer bother him. Alan wouldn't take the bet, but he let Alan wear the orthotics anyway. Alan said "Oh my god, my neuropathy is gone and my ulcer doesn't hurt one bit". (Any comments would be appreciated on this one, my friends).

Now let's get to the Jiggler. You stand on this machine, hold on to the side rails and the machine does all the work. Picture a stair stepper that moves your feet up and down so fast you can't believe it. You have to hold on for dear life. The machine moves your feet up and down (hence the name JIGGLER), It supposedly increases circulation to the feet and it's like a workout. Ten minutes, twice a day. (Comments anyone??)

Then there was the Wellness Detoxification System. It's a portable sauna where you go in and sweat off everything. Alan said it looked exactly like a portable sauna. The description of this reads as follows:

Deep Tisue Detoxification
Joint Muscle arthritis pain relief
Drug and old medicine detoxification
Cardiovascular conditioning
Calorie burning (600 calories in 30 min)
Brain Defogging
Energy enhancement
Stress Relief
Lymphatic drainage...........???????????????????????what the heck does this mean???

Blood purification
Skin tone, detoxification, beautification
Body fat loss
Heavy metal and environmental detoxification.

This thing uses far infrared light waves that penetrate deep into your body restoring, rejuvenating and energizing tired cells, relieving muscles, joints, bones and arthritic conditions.

Far infrared helps convert your sluggish tired inefficient toxic fat storing metabolism into a highly efficient energetic fat burning dynamo. (This gadget claims to cure every disease known to man, every virus, every bacteria).

While relaxing in your Synergy Wellness Detosiciation System, a steady stream of OZONE (super oxygen), is gently infused into your body , purifying every cell.
Stress and excess static electricity is pulled out of our body with bio-magnetic therapy, restoring nerves, rebalancing your body's central nervous system, while your mind is renewed with positive suggestion. BLAH BLAH BLAH. (comments are most welcome on this one)

Then Alan has a pamphlet by Dr. Howard Robins on something called OZONE. Dr. Robins calls it The Claw of Life. He performs Direct IV ozone treatments achieving astonishing results across a wide array of medical conditions. Ozone treatments also cure every disease known to man, from HIV to Hepatitis B, etc. etc.

All in All, Alan went to seminars, and oh, he actually bought something good. He bought a pouch of some kind of Flax Seeds that you sprinkle over yoghurt or in cereal. I said "Alan, this is the best out of everything you saw there".

So comments please??

Mel

You mean to tell me that there isn't one thing that I wrote about, NOT ONE THING?? that has a possibility of improving the quality of someone's life??

What about the super oxygen ozone thing?? Honestly, I've never heard of super oxygen!!! Any truth to that??

Default All of the things mentioned--

--have the potential to help somebody, at some time, with some condition. Our bodies are so complicated that if someone says that a certain treatment/device/regimen cannot help anyone, that someone is most likely incorrect.

And, of course, many things accepted as mainstream treatments today started out as "crackpot ideas". A number of formerly "crackpot ideas" are in the process of becoming more mainstream--what this takes it time, good reports, and most importantly, good double blind studies that show benefit.

THAT is probably the best question to ask at these fairs--"Do you have any peer-reviewed articles/papers involving blinded studies that show a benefit to these things over placebo?" The reaction of people to that question may tell you all you need to know for now.

..........but he let Alan wear the orthotics anyway. Alan said "Oh my god, my neuropathy is gone and my ulcer doesn't hurt one bit".

That sounded like a positive experience to me.
If it was comfortable enough, why didn't Alan want to go further with them?
Expense? Sometimes the ins cos. will cover if they are Rx'd.
Sounds like that one was good.
