Default Has anyone tried Mirapex for pain??

My dr. has added Mirapex .25 at night for the leg pain I've been having. It seems to help but sure makes me tired! I'm also still taking the Lyrica. My dr. said that he'd like for me to be able to change over totally to the Mirapex and off the Lyrica all together....but not sure that's going to happen with being so tired from the Mirapex.

Also...When your PN is flaring up do you ever feel like you don't want to wear any tight clothing?? I feel like my skin is telling me not to wear anything tight...it's strange but I guess it makes since because of the injured nerves.....
I had to take today off because I'm having a major PN flare. My shoulders, arms, legs are really hurting. So I'm sitting here in my baggy sweat suit and taking pain meds.......fun fun!!

Hi Roxie, You might want to visit our Parkinson forum, it has posts & info on Mirapex. I know some there have had experiences with Mirapex.

Default Tight clothing

Roxie,
I so relate to your tight clothing question. I hate clothing. I buy everything one size too big. It seems as if the pressure on the skin makes it worse. We've had discussions before about types of fabric. I'll never forget, one Winter I bought a long tweed skirt that had knobbie fabric and sitting on it in the car was torture! I can remember sitting at traffic lights waiting for it to change. I wanted to get home and out of that skirt so bad. I finally tossed it in the Women In Need bag.

If you can tolerate it, I found that the pants liners and skirt liners in silk help the feeling. In the Spring and Summer I wear nothing but Flax brand and fabric clothing. And I am now buying everything with elastic. Today, my husband's brother and wife are coming from Florida. Their trip was planned and paid for before my pelvic break occurred. I had to get dressed. I haven't seen these people in over 10 years and not looking forward to it. But not because of them. Sitting is so painful that I tend to walk from one spot to another and sit and get up and walk again. Not good with company.

Billye

WOW Billye.......I'm SO glad you told me this because I was starting to believe I was crazy! It's just the weirdest feeling and SO hard to describe to anyone! I'd felt this feeling before but today it's really bad. It seems that sitting, laying etc...are all uncomfortable today.
I feel for you having to deal with company. We may have out of state company for Thanksgiving, my sister and her boyfriend. I haven't seen them for a while so it'll be nice to see them, I just hope I feel better! Mike said if they do come down we'll take them out to eat dinner so I don't have to prepare a big meal. I know I couldn't handle that!
I'll be thinking about you.....I hope it's not too bad for you!

Roxie,

I am on Mirapex. PM me and I will answer any questions you have. I have been on it since 1999.

Lightbulb try this...

Here is an explanation of using Mirapex for pain control:

You want to be very vigilant, because this drug can increase compulsive behaviors...some of which are very destructive.

I relate to that Roxie. I feel the same when wearing tight clothes. I wear them anyway because i like them, but as soon as i get home i put on something loose. There are days I can stand them better though.

Hi Monica........SO glad to hear other's have this same problem. It's just SO hard to describe to anyone. I guess it's the nerves going crazy......or at least that's how it feels. I wish I knew what set them off. I felt a little bad yesterday....kinda tired and worn out.....then last night things took a nose dive and I started hurting and then getting this crazy feeling of not wanting anything touch my skin.
Thanks for writing Monica.
