Is it OK to take Xanax if you get new symptoms after having anger? Two days ago I was angry about something while sitting at the computer. I was favoring my left leg and buttocks the way I was sitting. That leg and buttocks are somewhat burning when I sit on them now and the left foot goes somewhat numb and is somewhat painful when I stand. I had a couple more fight or flight hormone releases also I guess.
What happened? I have glucose intolerance. Were my leg and buttocks and nerves compressed so glucose and insilin couldn't get there??? I'm only 165 and thin btw. What does that anger hormone do? Can I recover from the new symptoms with supplements, like 5000mg B12 methyl per day? I'm not on any medication, but I have Xanax. Is Xanax safe and a good idea? And what are the chances of these new symptoms going away? Can I use the treadmill depsite a painful foot or should I rest it? This is always a scary time for everyone who experiences it. Oh yeah, I did 1.5 hours on the treamill and a muscle on the inside of my thigh started getting tired. I wonder if there's a chance I compressed or inflamed a main nerve under the butt? ![]() Last edited by Jason; 11-16-2007 at 09:53 AM. |

Hi Jason,
I cant answer as a professional - but I take xanax, partly to help get sleep at night when the PN starts my legs shaking/buzzing and its impossible to sleep - seems to help relax the muscles, as least for a couple of hours... (also take for my gut)... of course its up to your doc if its prescribed or not! Cause its a pretty addictive med..... |

I would call the doc who prescribed it. You want to make sure it doesn't mix with the other meds. I have a friend who takes it to calm her anxiety when needed I think. Its better to be safe then sorry though so call your doc. I'm a little confuse by your post. Now do you feel like you have anger issues and that makes your pain rise? So maybe finding a med to assist with your mood levels. Can you tell me more about your glucose intolerance? I had blood work which said I'm not but between my pain, stomach and out of it I often felt I am. Its interesting how you said you could see the pain difference.
On the treadmill issue. Maybe you did do something or maybe you just strained from overuse. That is a long time. Again is there a doc you could call? See with our issues sometimes its hard to know if its a nerve or muscle or bone or maybe a combo or different at each time. I know from my issues the treatment around rest is different for all. Sorry not too many answers for you. |

Jason.
Anger can set off symptoms BIG TIME!! That's why I had to learn to de-stress my life. Stress causes flare ups of PN. A whole lot of PN. So if you think about WHY you were angry, maybe you can get yourself to a place inside your head, to a calmer, more stable place, and you just might be able to de-stress your life. Hey, it's worth a shot!!! Easy to say, hard to do, this I know. Melody

If it helps you de-stress, and your doctor has prescribed it, sure.

I took Xanax for five days. All I can say is **** after reading on it. I hope the length of withdrawal corresponds with how long you're on it. You can experience dizziness when you first begin Xanax. Yes, I did. That can't be good. Carnitine or switching from magnesium oxide to magnesium citrate helped with my PN. One of those made my leg nerves burn for a little while after taking them and the numbness was better. My PN is probably related to stress and anger which I will just have to deal with for a while. Thanks for the help.
