Default I tend to agree with cycleops, Roxie--

--you've just been through a number of procedures, and are on various medications, and I'm not sure that a lot of what you are reporting, although it should be checked out, is not temporary, and reactive.

Thyroid nodules are very common, and Mel, they may be completely asymptomatic, though ultrasounds to find them are often done on people with suspicion of low thyroid function. (My wife is one--she has a small nodule but documented evidence of low thyroid function via anti-thyroxin antibodies, and takes a small dosage of Synthroid.) I'm assuming, Roxie, that part of the reason for the thyroid ultrasound was all the other issues, especially autoimmune ones (the most common cause of low thyroid function is autoimmunity)--did they do the standard TSH, free T3, T4 levels?

Default The trouble is

There never seams enough time to let people finish 1 thing before they
start iN ON another. And once it is again normal to get those at our
age,I remember when my Mom had the same problrm..Do you remember
your family history? We all want to go home from the hospital,I don't
aways want to stay in,but i like staying in during tests and get it over with
in case of bad reactions..When I got my port I got a bad fever but there
was nurses watching me for short time. Although there's things you can
get in hospitals now..This traveling back and forth it can really wear you
out. At leaST WAIT A DAY OR 2 AND SEE IF AMY REACTIONS,BELIEVE
ME IT'S NOT FUN BEING IN THOSE AWFUL LITTLE ROOMS WITH SOMEONE
ELSE, BUT THEY DO SOME FAST SENT YOU BACK,IF YOUR FAMILY
LIVES OUT OF TOWN OR YOUR HUSBAND,LIKE YORKIEMOM, AND AND
ROXIES ,MIKE IT'S HARD TO RUN BACK AND FORTH..MY NEUROS LEG
IS SHATTERED AT LEAST YOU GET TO KNOW THE DR. TAKING OVER
IN PERSON,THEN A STRANGER OVER THE PHONE.. I'M SO SORRY YOU
HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS..HUGS SUE AND I'M STILL AWAKE GUESS IT'S THE QUIET,WITH BOB IN LOS VEGAS.

Sending good thoughts - yes - does seem like veryeverthing hits at once - but I think its the nature of the beast - one system in our body is weakened and the others want to jump on board.... at least the port is working for you - thats a good thing - and your lungs shoud be cleared up quickly - used those for respiratory infection several years ago and worked very well and I'm super sensitive to meds like you.....

On thyroid - keeping fingeres crossed all is well - I know constantly going to the doc is overhwemling and having a vacation from all of it would be wonderful as they are often so draining - I know I ignore a lot of symtoms I should take immediate action on beause I cannot stand the thought nor have the physical strength to deal wtih it all constantly, plus life! Be vigilent - I know your hubby is supportive - and the appointments will be over and behind you as soon as possible -

Hey all,
From what we've been reading, like what Glenn said, most Thyroid nodules aren't cancer but I have to have the tests to make sure. Yes, my dr. did do all the blood work....took 6 vials of blood! OUCH!!
The dr. said that I could be pre-diabetic is because of my Neuropathy, my weight gain, the nodules and that I had a child who was over 9 pounds at birth (he was 9-11...another OUCH! LOL) My grandmother was Diabetic after around 60 yrs of age....but she's the only Diabetic in the family.
So now I have to wait for the tests for all that, and trying to get the burned lungs to heal with the inhalers. Mike was reading online last night, we think I inhaled stomach acid after the surgery. When I woke up from surgery my chest was burning and felt on fire! Since I have Barrett's Esophagus we always take a bottle of honey with us to surgery, just in case my esophagus is hurting from being laid down so long during the surgery. So since it was hurting we figured it was because the dr. said I'd have to be laid down flat on my back during the port surgery......guess that's not quite what happened! Today I'm still having trouble breathing and my chest hurts but I think it's not quite as bad as yesterday.......but still miserable.
I hope everyone has a good day today.........love hearing from y'all!!

I am wondering if sometimes too all the different things done like meds/treatments are just too much on a body. I know when I was doing so many things of different meds/test/procedure I was going down hill. Each time I would come from the doc I would have another issue or be in more pain. If I did everything all the docs have suggested I would have a cuts in my lesg, implants,I could go on. I really have been thinking and have no idea what the answer is.Its like the current is horrible but then it can always get worse. You start trading one issue for another. Also that many docs will let you be a test bunny. What I also hate is that when something happens to another part of the body because of there treatment they can't deal with it cause it is not there area so then another specialty doc comes into play. I hate that its not my area by the docs. They may as well go to school for 2 years and just focus on that part. I also thought internists are for the whole body but the ones I see always say that is not there area too.Silverlady I agree about the docs just going can put one in pain. The drive, the wait, etc. Ok enough of my rant. I know we all want help and I wish it would come easier.

I think we should all sign up for a cruise to Alaska. See the whales. Breathe the fresh clean air. See the beauty of it all!! Just picture that view!!

Then after this cruise, we should all go the Bahamas, bask in the sun, lay on the beach and just chill. (that's the correct terminology for relaxing, right??)

One can wish, now can't one!!!

lol, Mel

Default Going somewhere?

Good plan, but it better be either Hawaii, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands...That way we won't have to shell out for passports! Create our own 'tour trip' so to speak...
What better way to deal with the stresses we go thru than a totally catered trip to a gorgeous place...where we are catered to [rather than catering for] to our hearts' content!
Wanna go! Wanna Go! - j

I think we all need some very serious playtime here...someway that is 'board appropriate'?
