Default Hi all - few questions

Hi all

Well, my doctor visit turned out to be a complete let down. I asked him about vit b12 levels and he said no it's fine. So he did not test for it. He did other blood tests which came back normal.

I have however started taking b12 sublingual tablets (one every day) and a b complex too...Just had a b12 shot on monday...I don't know if it is my imagination, but my skin hypersensitivity and burning is less.

I'm going to continue taking b12 injections every week for a month or two. I'm taking sublingual b12 (one in the morning) and B complex every day. I also added two omega 3 oil capsules at night and a good probiotic.

Are there any other vitams you guys would recommend? I could not find any articles on supplementation (but I'm very new to the site so I'm struggling to search for stuff). I don't have a lot of money for vitamins and supplements so I can't really afford to buy loads of stuff.

I'm going to give the supplements a chance and see if I notice any improvement. If so, I'm going back to the neurologist for some answers.

Love
Eugene

Good start with the B-vitamins. Especially the B-12. However, when taking B-12 it's important to take other B-vitamins along with it, which you're doing. The lessening in symptoms is probably not your imagination. Be aware though that there are times when the symptoms seem to come back and sometimes a bit worse than before. However, those short-term increases seem to be the nerves regenerating and healing themselves and coming awake rather than the orginal neuropathy symptoms.

I found this message board late one night, or *very* early one morning depending on how you look at it. I was desperate for answers and relief. I was sitting here in pain and crying because of the pain and fatigue from lack of sleep. I found this board and started reading. I found the info about the B-12. I can tell you that from the time I started the B-12 therapy and added other supplements as I went along my PN pain has decreased about 90%.

This board also helped me to find adequate pain relief. For me, Tramadol is my hero. It mutes all the nerve pain. I can't take Gabapentin (generic neurontin) because it makes me suicidal. It also depletes B-12 which leads to an increase in PN symptoms and pain. This is apparently also part of what increased my pain and caused them to up my dose of Gabapentin which made me suicidal. Fun, huh?

There are many wonderful and knowledgeable people here. You'll find answers and the help you're looking for. Read and post...it's that simple.

For me my favorite supplements are magnesium glycinate, calcium with d,glucosamine msn, flaxseed oil. I try to eat pottasium rich foods because I heard the supplement you need to be careful with but I could be wrong. I have not seen a huge benefit from vitamins and was on a lot cause I went to a holistic doc. I really feel one nutritious food is key and then supplements can aid.Can you say what more of your issues and symptoms are?
