I just was at the seashore during the East Coast's severe
Mother's Day storms a few days ago.(Sun 5-11 thru Mon 5-12)
We went to the beach condo, to be near our youngest son, who goes to college not far from there. It was to be a Mother's-Day night out, to a fine restaurant. The storm didn't start until after dinner.
It was A Mother's Day, 'mother' of a storm.
Driving rain, winds to 70 mph. Water coming in, thru the storm windows
on the ocean-side of the apartment.
Our car was hit by a flying, patio, umbrella table and had damage done
to the rear fender panel. Pieces of white plastic were embedded in the fender. We found the rest of the table plastic (the type with a hole in it, for an umbrella pole and weighted bottom), in pieces, about 30 yards away from the car, in a back yard on the next block.
Never found the pole, though.
The entire rear panel of our Honda & a back-up light lens, has to be replaced. When we got back to our home, we went to our local body & fender repair shop. The insurance adjuster said it looked like we'd been hit by another car (impossible, because of the place we'd parked it) at about 40-50mph.
Found it difficult to believe our story.
I felt weak, had loss of balance, and severe foot/leg & hand/arm pain, and was affected greatly by the storm. I tried at one point, to pack the car to leave on Mon., but the winds were so severe that it whipped one bag completely out of my grip (not that it was that tight a grip, because of PN weakness) and it weighed about 25-30 lbs!
When I got back into the apt, I had a nervous stomach (and diarrhea) from the fear. We were in a beach-front apartment, and I was afraid to go out again until the severity subsided. They said it was the worst that the seaside town has had, since the hurricane of '98. Flooding also was a deterrent as to us leaving. We had to stay an extra day, and didn't get back until yesterday (Tues 5/13) evening.
My PN pain was rampant for 2 days, and still is at a higher level
than it normally is.

And how could the guy not believe that the weather did what it did to your car?. We saw what was happening on the tv and whole boats were lifted out of the ocean, and houses were uplifted. Pretty powerful weather systems going on.

Two days ago, it was 46 degrees, people were outside and wearing winter coats, hoods, hats, scarves, and mittens. Mittens??? in May??

I went outside dressed like an Eskimo and I wished everybody who was outside a 'MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR".

They were hysterical. I mean, who dresses like this in May?

Then the next day, it was 61 degrees.

Today it's 71.

Tomorrow it will probably snow!!!!

Good Grief.

So get in a nice hot tub (if you are able), and just stay warm.

Hi. I truly believe that weather has a huge impact. I have everyday pain but when I was in Fl from the humidity I was so swollen and was back to taking vicodin after like 6 months of none. I could barely put my foot down from pain. A fluke maybe. I am in Mi right now and yesterday was warm and sunny. I had a better day. Today is cold and rainy and I hurt so much. Another fluke maybe. To me though there is too many connections. I am sorry your car got hit but thank goodness you are ok. Getting hit by a patio table could be deadly. Hugs and feel better

We were south of the Jersey coast, in Delaware, about 4-5 blocks from the research vessel that had to helivac 2 people off of it, & one didn't survive. It was 14 miles offshore when it sent in the 'May Day', but you could see it, up on the beach,
from our apartment balcony. Maybe you saw it on TV, it was all over the local channels in Del. & MD.
Fortunately, we were not in the car at the time- it was parked alongside the apt bldg,
practically up to the boardwalk, parallel to the surf, so the right side of the car got the brunt of the wind. That's where it hit- on the right rear, but the whole panel is totaled. The trunk-lid & R qtr panel have some scratches too.
Cars nowadays aren't like they usedta be. You could repair a dent in the metal, but much of the back & front are made of plastic and molded into a single piece. This panel completely wraps around the back from the 'L' rear-qtr panel to the 'R' rear-qtr panel & is made of some non-metal, plastic or fiberglass, or ....something, and was pierced clear thru, with shards of white plastic embedded in it.
For 10 years, I've said that the barometric pressure (weather) affects my PN.
I can usually tell when a storm, or drastic change in weather, is brewing-
before the weatherman on the TV.

That was probably not the 'funnest' weekend at 'da beach was it?
Sure hope the car's surgery works well.

My bet is it was the stress the weather caused rather than the weather itself that caused your flare up.
Well at least things are looking up, spring is slowly on it's way,
