Well folks, I can tell you that Neuragen has and does work for me! I have been using the oil for about 18 months. It is expensive but for some it can do wonders. I think that its effectiveness for any individual depends on your daily metabilism. In other words it works for me somedays better than others but it always works.
I developed PN after a bout with a serious bacterial intestinal disorder which landed me in the hospital for 20 days and I went into Systemic Shock., which means my body organs were shutting down. Out of that in evolved into nerve damage in the lower torso. Quite painful at times and always with me to some degree when standing or attempting to from a sitting position. Anyway, I saw the advertisement and I called Neuragen. (This was before CVS and Right Aid carried the product) I ordered the VERY small bottle and since it is a concentrate used very little on my fingertip and lightly rubbed in to the arae of pain. Within minutes I was no longer in pain ! In order to make the stuff last and in order to spread the oil over the entire lower torso, I mixed the oil with Johnson's Baby Cream. Johnson's Baby Bedtime lotion worked best for me. As I said earlier it works better some days than others but always works to some level. I would not do without it ! On days when the pain is extremely bad I may end up using this mixture that I spoke of about 4 -5 times a day. Additionally, I had received a promo email from CVS which had a place to correspond. I did so and told them of my experiences with the stuff and recommended that they carry it. They wrote b ack after about 10 days, thanked me and told me that they looked into it and decided not to carry the product. I then responded back to them that they would be doing a great service to their Diabetic and other nerve pain sufferers. They agin wrote back that they had agin looked at the product and had decided to carry it ! I am sure that I was not the only person who told them of the product and I guess Neuragen's Sales team probably had something to do with it. If you mix the stuff like I did it can last a considerable time and in fact Neuragen recommends this method if the pained area is large. Great stuff and I can't say enough about it. |

The reason I ask is that I have found that ANYTHING applied to the skin blocks the nerve receptors to the AIR, and changes the pain sensations. Some additions make this more pronounced...like Menthol which stimulates cooling nerves so the heat/burning ones are overridden.

I went back to CVS to see if they still carried it. They still have the one little bottle (from last year because I checked it). It's still on the bottom shelf.
No one has purchased it. They don't promote it or anything. I wonder why?? Melody

They offer sales, and some loss leaders to get you into the store. Advertising costs tons of $$... When new products like Neurogen come out, they sell at a lower wholesale price to some large chains, because in their ADs for it, in magazines and on the net (or TV if they get that far)...there will be the trailer..."available at CVS or whatever" CVS does NOT pay for that advertising, they made a deal to carry the product with that clause. When you see an ad in a flyer for Walgreen's or CVS...there are agreements behind the scenes. NatureMade for example, in the Buy one get one....that is one of them. NatureMade is giving those products at a discount to the pharmacy in that event.

Well, I admit, on one particularly painful day, I bought a bottle at the drug store. I was especially having problems with the lower part of my palm, just below the thumb, so that night I put some on. It did cool it down somewhat, but later the pain was back in force. I am also a bit sensitive to the smell. I think this is probably like most remedies and even medications. It works for some, but not everyone.

Not much relief....but I smell like a plant. My dog kept following me around the house....I thought my dog was going to urinate on my leg...but that is another story.
Cymbalta has started to kick in, and I am getting better each day on it...it also has had a definite impact on mood...it is not perfect, but at least I am not thinking about it constantly. The amygdala plays a big part in all this I imagine, hence the role of antidepressants. Be well to everyone, Mark |

I have been studying, and mixing my own "potions" with essential oils just since march, but I have learned so much, my rosacea is mostly all cleared up, I refuse to pay big bucks to buy anti-aging creams, when I can make my own.I went to the NEURAGEN site, and saw what they put into it, and am going to try to re-create it myself, as soon as the ingredient I am missing gets here. After ALOT of research, I have made a potion for the pain in my feet, and it actually does work!! And doing it myself is so much cheaper than buying creams from the Pharmacy. But it does involve weeks and weeks of research. I will keep you all posted!

I know this is very old but I am hoping you are still around. My Mom uses Neuragen PN and it works VERY well for her. However, at $30 a bottle, its not feasible. Do you think if we mixed it with unscented baby oil that it would work in a spray bottle? You cannot touch her feet at all.
