Lyrica has been known to be given (in test trials)
up to 900 mgs (or more) daily, w/o adverse s/e.
I've not heard of any docs Rx'ng that high, yet.
I'm at the max of 600mg (200mg 3xday).

Yah, I suppose I am just bemoaning my dr being a jerk and not wanting to up my Lyrica from 300mg (total) a day. He won't even discus anything to do with my drugs. All he wants to do now is blackmail me into doing a steroid injection.

I'm afraid a steroid injection will do little in the way of helping
with alleviation of PN symptoms.
If anything, its only a 'quick fix' for a short time
and most probably will be a waste of time with little, to no results.

I agree. I've already had 2 (esi) and they did not help much. But he won't see me again unless I agree to do another one. It's really stupid.

i had a cervical esi in May and it set off my PN to a great degree. The numb areas became more numb, the area involved increased , much of the pain that had lessened over time came roaring back. Burning, stabbing, throbbing, tingling. This lasted until August. The increased area of numbness and the increased numbness in the areas affected before the ESI have not reversed at all still.

Is this guy a neurologist, or a PCP/Internist, ..... or what?

Sounds as if he has some sort of a 'theory' that he's trying to prove,
using patients as Guinea pigs. Wants to publish a paper.....
"Cure for PN .... Steroid Injections"

It would make as much sense to inject Botox, like they do (experimentally) for spinal cord injury patient's,
uncontrollable spasms.

Maybe you should start hunting for another doc ?

He is actually a pain specialist (and anesthesiologist). And maybe I should say this third injection he wants to try to do it in a different location (the L2 nerve, I think.)

I could totally see him trying to write a paper... he is really impersonable and kind of rude.

The problem with looking for another Dr is that this one is already my second pain specialist (I had to leave the first one because he would never return phone calls, even about increased pain, and did not care/call when I got so desperate I started to take extra meds to deal with my increased pain level and told him I was I doing so) and this one I am at now thinks (because I left the first one) I am a pain clinic hopper looking for prescriptions for painkillers or something so if I try to go for a 3rd Dr, I'm afraid it will look really bad...plus I (think) have kind of run out of pain clinic options in my immediate area.

I am on my 4th pm doctor in a year and half. I have not got any new meds from them just 3 different big procedures to do. I understand the switching issue but if this one is not on the same page or is treating you in a wrong manner or poorly you may have to. Not all think you are going to just want meds.If you stay with this pm I would talk about your concerns and fears.
