Hi. I was on Elavil for awhile after I tried neurontin, lyrica etc. I did not gain weight but it did not help my pain or sleep. I think around the weight issue and I have tried many that do make one gain like Lyrica is that I try to trust my doctor and take one day at a time. It may not happen to you or the relief of pain may be worth it. If you are concerned try to discuss with your doctor. I saw your other post on Lexapro which I was on but not in combo and it was before the pain issue. I hope in any regards you find what helps you with the least side effects. Hang in there

My doc wanted to put me on Elavil for migraine pain and I declined due to the weight gain issues. At one point I did try Neurontin and did gain much weight and dumped it fast. I ended up taking a small amount of Desipramine for my migraine issues and gained about three or four pounds I think...that was it. The Despramine is very similar to Elavil. I have found keeping my meds low and combining them with natural products, vitamins, good food, good living and moderate exercise gave me better results than medication alone. Now, I pay close attention to supplements, etc. I am fortunate to go to a physician who is open minded about these things. You can get much information at the library. Sometimes an experienced salesperson at the health food store can provide insight. It requires much patience. Wishing you well.
