My pain started 7 years ago. Since then I have seen many, many, many, doctors and healthcare providers to try and find an answer. Unfortunately no one had any ideas and only wanted to put me on antidepressants to "mask" the pain. I have read some of the blogs here and feel the same way about the medical field regarding PN. I have burning sensations that started with my reproductive area and then spread to my feet, my hands and now my TONGUE! It has only been recently that I started researching B12 and have had some improvement. Does anyone have experience with diet? It seems that when I eat Processed foods I have an increase in my symptoms.

Some of us have found sugar, or fructose can be a trigger.
I have found for myself that nightshade veggies (mostly potato) but also some tomato products can trigger burning. Also Gluten may be a culprit. The only way to find a dietary trigger is to do an elimination diet. Get rid of completely what you suspect one by one and then see if you feel better. After about 3 weeks, reintroduce it and see if the pain/burning returns. Some supplements help too. You are doing B12, but there are others. Benfotiamine for example-- a special form of thiamine B1 may help. Regular inexpensive thiamine is available everywhere, and 300mg a day in divided doses would be a way to check that out. If you see some relief, then try the benfotiamine (available on the net at www.iherb.com ) Those are just examples. There are others for other people. We all differ in our metabolisms etc.

cm1972:
My neuropathy started in my reproductive area too. I have read that most neuropathies due to diabetes start on feet. I would like some insight on what type of neuropathies start on the top of the legs (thigs and reproductuve area) I am also trying to find food culpirits and i am going to start today with sugar and i am going to keep a "food diary", so i have a question: am i supposed to eliminate sugar from fruit too? or just refined sugar? is there any safe product i can substitute sugar with? I also take a bunch of supplements: Vit b12 (methyl form), Alpha lipooic acid (can't find de r lipoic form here), benfothiamine, fish oil, vitamin c (following the advice of scientist Linus Pauling, who said vitamin c was a cure all, let's see), taurine, magnesium, zinc, vit b6, folic acid, zinc, acethyl l carnitine, CoQ10 and i think that's it. I also take lyrica (150 mg a day) and elavil (40 mg a day) |

I have tried Neuragen PN discussed in another thread and have found it to be very helpful for my tingling toes and shooting nerve pain. I had to have my pharmacy order it, it was $30.00 for a small bottle. I was trying to get back to the original thread after registering and could not find it, but came upon your post here and remembered you had posted to the topic of Neuragen.

I am not sure as I have often wondered as you. I also had a doctor this week feel that my issues could have to do with my ibs and having so much inflammation in my gut for so long.Have you been tested for allergies or other things like gluten? The only other doctor who even touched on the nutrition part was a holistic one. I am not big on that but at this point I would be willing to try as long as it encorporates regular meds and treatments. Could you try to eliminate certain things from your diet and see but be careful to make sure you get proper nutrients
