Default Vit D - link

I open the link. Thanks.

I have a vit D deficiency that was checked only last week.

Did you check your Vit D? what were the results?
What about anemia? iron deficiency?

Well, when I tried to open it, it froze my computer up, big time. Very weird. I won't try it again! I looked up the info on my own!

Default These computers are .....

such peculiar animals [or non-animals?] Got minds of their own, at times it seems. There are times I want to thwack mine with my cane, and mine works pretty well?
I Know and have experienced D deficiency [due to cancer meds etc] Gotta tell you that thanks to Mrs D and Rose and others who have so kindly explained it over and over again to me till I GOT it? I'm OK in this corner at least.
That is one aspect of my life that is 'saved' to a degree. Other quarters are up in the air, but neither here nor there for now....
Folks here ARE very smart about the vitamins and such tho...do pay attention to their information. Use your own brain to research further and make your own decisions? But you get the added bonus of personal experiences here that you don't get from many places. Or, the biases of places trying to 'sell' you something.
Keep at it all, it's complicated, but then, the human body is too? The more you know about your own body and what all is going on, the better things...good or bad can be dealt with by YOU!
Learning is what it is about! Keep faith and hope as it's part of keeping sanity. - HUGS - j

My neuro had extensive blood work done on me in July. My Vitamin D,25-OH,LC/MS/MS...the correct test I am thinking, came back at 35...Vitamin D,1,25DIHYDROXY came back at 25 (this is the test that isn't so important, if I remember correctly). I am now supplementing with Vit D 2000 IU's of cholecalciferol. Most of my vitamins came within the ranges, but most on the low end of the range. I am not much of a believer in ranges...I really don't think they can lump us all into the same ranges. Yet, it is at least an idea of where one should be.

I started taking B12 because of this forum, and yes, there is a lot of vitamin info here. We need to help each other, we all know, most doctors do not know this info.

Thank you everyone for the info you submit.

Yes Dahlek, these modern technology creatures we use can be very tempermental. My computer, as a rule is great. She lets me research my little heart away!!!!I love her!!!

Help new member please help me understand what neoropathy is

I have ankel and knee pain that I thought was just arthritis that was getting worse, but a supervisor suggested neoropathy because I am in so much pain all the time. I do not have insurance to go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to. Can anyone out there explain what it is.

Neuropathic pain may be severe or not, the difference between it and other pain is that neuropathic pain is caused by problems with nerves themselves. In other types of pain the nerves act to carry the pain message; in neuropathic pain, the nerves are themselves the sources of pain. The quality of neuropathic pain is different: people describe it as burning, tingling, stinging, jangling. Sometimes the location of the pain is hard to pin down. Neuropathic pain doesn't usually respond to traditional painkillers.

(Hope this helps. I'm not an expert, other than experiencing it!)

See the 'sticky's' at the top of the topics page.
Go to the links suggested there. There's a bit, so take your time
and just read the ones that are of most interest to you.
There is a wealth of information about all facets of PN.

You need to go to the doctor to see if you have some inflammatory reactions going on in the knee and/or ankle.
Xrays and some blood work.

There is a pain syndrome that some people get when injured, even a minor sprain. It is called reflex sympathetic dystrophy and we have a forum on it as well.
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum21.html

Arthritis or tendonitis in the knee can refer down the leg. So you need to find out what is going on there. You can even have back problems that refer to the knee. You cannot self diagnose at this point.

Any injured nerve can be called a neuropathy. But many here have a more generalized version that attacks the whole body in some way, not just one knee and ankle. So please do get some medical evaluation to start with.
