--many neuropathies that have acute onset--especially those that are traceable to an autoimmune onset--can get better over time, though it's usually a long time. that seems to be my case--I suffer(ed) from an acute onset body-wide burning neuropathy that came on in hours, progressed quickly, levelled off for several months, and then slowly began to recede.

As in the case of many other people with acute onset--those with Guillain Barre, for example--I do not have complete recovery (most of the prognosticators will tell you that with such syndromes there is "slow, partial recovery"), but I am certainly much better than I was, though I am still prone to flares and part of the residual damage is that I'm very susceptible to compressive effects that might not bother "normals".

In my case, I probably would have gotten somewhat better on my own, but I don't think I would have recovered as much as I did without the supplementation (B12, co-enzymated B's, essential fatty acids, lipoic acid, magnesium) or the attention to diet (I'm gluten free to the greatest extent that I can manage, and try to be as sugar free as I can--I'm insulin resistant, so no sense stirring that up).
