Of course we are all here because we suffer from a common cause, PN. I'm curious though, do some of us share any other medical conditions that may be going on at the same time as our PN? Even though some of these other conditions are not connected to the PN, I thought it might be interesting to post a few of these other conditions and see if we share any in common.
Along with PN, I suffer from severe hypertension which has been difficult to control. I have also had problems with bouts of PVCs for years and some tachycardia. Last year, I had the worse pelvic floor dysfunction ever, which did get better after some physical therapy. I also have arthritis in certain areas. One thing I continue to suffer from is menopausal symptoms. I have horrible hot flashes day and night, insomnia, mood swings, etc. I really do believe that this hormonal roller coaster is irritating to my PN. What other medical problems do you suffer in addition to your PN? |

I am hypothyroid (my first PN symptoms were due to this).
I have arthritis and spurring in several joints. I have had hypertension since before my pregnancy when I was 34. I also had PCOS and still have the insulin resistance that comes with that. The hypertension might be connected...I am hoping my BP will come down with the d-chiro inositol trial I am doing. Already, my chin hair has stopped and my skin is less oily. I am looking forward to lower BP at the end of 3-4 months. Type II diabetes is stalking me now...very closely. I've kept it away for over 30 yrs, but unless the d-chiro inositol works, I am doomed I think!

I think I am a bit like Mrs D...
I suffer form hypothiroidism too. First doctor though neuropathy was a consequence of it, but they the found some autoimmune component. I also suffer from PCOS... I am taking D chiro inositol too... and it's been working great, my acne has lowered and i don't suffer from cramps anymore, that is great!!! Mmmmm i guess that's it (thankfully) |

I'm not a regular here on PN but I've had PN for a couple years. I was just prescribed Lyrica to deal with it and came here to try to find info on it.
I'm typically over at the MS Stumble Inn board. I've had MS for 21 years. That's it for neurological stuff. I've had 4 aneurysms repaired. One was right at the heart in the ascending aortic artery. I've also been told I have hereditary hemochromatosis or some such. I also have a really really fun job... Tom |

I have celiac/gluten intolerance, raynauds, sleep apnea, and was told borderline type 2 diabetic, but I doubt that one. Celiac/gluten intolerance is the cause of my neuropathy, no doubt in my mind. I was sick for over 20 yrs before I found out about gluten intolerance. That's a long time to be vitamin and mineral deficient. I still do not think I have healed properly, and think I am still having problems absorbing things.

I injured my back in 91, have re-injured it numerous times since, now have degenerative disc disease along with that little old bulged disc. Testing in the last year with symptoms indicates sero-negative immflammatory arthritis, we assume since I responded so well to prednisone....
I have to assume the immune system goes haywire with all of us in some way, diagnosed or not! It's liking wanting to put a name to a face when they say "idiopathic" to me, it won't change things but at least I know what I'm up against. |

I have chronic connective tissue problems that weakens my body to the point it wont structurally support itself - muscles are strong but my liagaments etc are like chewing gum I have some sort of neurological problem thats affeted my tactile sensation and has gotten worse over 18 yrs my problems started ( im 32 now ) rendering me unable to hold objects without getting terrible anxiety . ( This is esp bad because I used to be artistic , play sport to a pretty high level -so Im very aware of it. And last - but not least - I have anosmia thats robbed me of my sense of smell apart form the odd few I can still occassionally smell. Thats about the some of it . When I got the pn 10 years ago I had terrible gastric problems too just before it , whether its related it or not I dont know but Ive been trying to find out the contents of solution i was injected / treated with at the time. |
